If he leaves, The gumps will melt down. If he stays, he's no longer ten feet tall and bulletproof, he's just another employee, albeit a very well compensated one. Fans and media will have him under a microscope, and his every move will be viewed in light of whether it justifies his huge contract. He'll hate that and it will drive him away sooner. Win-Win.
