Bamachick's the brainchild who posted an about Saban signing a new contract with Bama and was all 'nya nya nya nya nya' about it...until someone immediately pointed out that she'd failed to read the article's year-old publish date.

OK guys. Couple of things.
PBJ's plane is not the plane that Saban is granted 25 hours of personal use a year. Saban uses UA's plane for that.
Also, the plane that went from Austin to NW Arkansas Monday night was not the UT AD plane. It was a netjets charter flight. Netjets is basically a timeshare for private jets. There is no way of knowing who was on that plane. However, it did match up with Saban's timeline. It flew up, spent about 2 1/2 hours on the ground. Then went directly back to Austin.
I think this plane was chartered by a UT booster to make a pitch at Saban. The reason I think this is because Netjets planes do not have a "home base." They move all around the country wherever they are needed. Somebody from Austin had a meeting in NW Arkansas that night. If the plane was just dropping someone off, they would have refueled and left immediatly to their next flight, or the crew would have called it a day and went to the hotel. This plane flew did a round trip from Austin to NWA with enough time for a meeting to take place. Too long for just a drop off but.

Beat writer for Austin newspaper just said on Dan Patrick radio show he believes Alabama can match anything Texas offers financially
Bama has money, but they don't have texas money. The percentage of the LHN is what's really going to push it to another level.

Yea they probably can't match Texas money wise. Interesting points about Saban dealing with the LHN though.

I seriously doubt Bama could match everything UT could and prob will offer.

Yes, listened to it 10 min ago...
Salary wise, yes I think Alabama can match it... But if Saban is given a % of the Longhorn Network, there is no way in hell Alabama gets there.
Bama will be outbid by Texas, there is no question about it.
Texas fans are just as delusional and obsessed as Bama fans but Oil and Gas Money >>> Mercedes Benz and ship building money.

I agree.
Saban may not like all the meddling he could have to put up with, but how many millions is that worth to him?

Smart play on Saban's part if true... He will always have that % of the network, so he will bring in a few mil a year for the rest of his life.

UT is offering to pay off all of his losses in the real estate blunder as a signing bonus

No kidding. I go off for a day and come back to find a thread that may pass ATPB.
Anyway, I'm just taking a wait and see. I can't believe he would leave bama. Bama would give his program whatever he wants.
Either he just wants to rebuild another program or they're giving him something he just can't pass up, like a Whataburger franchise.
Hmm, where is the Little Debbie bakery?

I heard (don't know if its correct) the network is worth about 300m annually and he would get 1%, so an additional 3m a year for the rest of its existence

can a business man hire one of these planes for a day to fly them all over the place even if he spends a few hours at one spot

Posted this on the Bama board. Did anyone else hear this interview?
No but all of that has been discussed. Do you really think something like too many tv shows will stop them from getting Saban? Last line of contract just needs to read, "oh, and I'm only doing ONE coaches show." End of story.
