Of course. That makes perfect sense. Will pass your thoughts along.

If you showed us a Saban, Harbough or Urban that was available, I think we'd be on his doorstep. He's just not there this year. (And Peterson isn't leaving Washington.)

Then why would Jimbo leave FSU or Herman Texas? These are both state tax free states. Is Peterson in Washington the pinnacle in football? No. Point is if you don't try you'll never know. It's all pure speculation if you do anything other than asking to actually find out.

Remember the inbreds won the lottery that year as Saban fell in there laps, it was nothing great that they did to get him. Sexton even contacted LSU (Skip) to see if there was any possible way Saban could come back to coach here. The big business decision should've been to buy out the last 3 years of Miles' contract and rehired Saban. He was the best when he left LSU to go to the NFL and 3 national titles later how do you like me now. No hindsight, it is what it is, that's why we're in the position we're in now. Hope it's Herman / Aranda !

I will add the big money UA boosters were very much split on the idea of firing one of their own, Shula, for someone that may not come or may not stay if he does come.

They can be pompous and arrogant about it now, but they were just as insecure and uncertain in 2006 as we are now. I realize it isn't a popular sentiment around here, but I am confident in Joe Alleva hiring the right guy for the job.

Edited to remove comment about sexton, I misread the original post.

Alabama made an offer to, then, West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez before snagging Saban.

I doubt their 1st choice would have been as successful.

Saban WAS Bama's first choice but he wouldn't talk to them with the Dolphins season still underway. Mal Moore panicked and moved on to Rich Rod. Thankfully that fell through and Mal decided to wait and take another run at Saban.

Agreed. I love how some of the O guys are so concerned with having to pay Jimbo or Herman big money, like it comes out of their christmas bonus.

Teams don't get better by going cheap. Just find the best you can, and pay the man.

LSU needs to force their target to say yes and accept nothing less than yes.

Just like Michigan did with Harbaugh.

The question is are there any Harbs/Saban/Meyers out there?
Jimbo is as good of a coach as Harbaugh. Urban and Nick are the best in the business.

Yea Bama was extremely lucky Rich Rod backed out of the deal. If he would have taken the job history would be very different

That is why many on here want Jimbo. Best guy out there that we can get this year seems to be Jimbo.

If LSU were to get Jimbo it would be a major feat. When was the last time a HC left one successful power conf job to go to another? The last one I can think of his Belima leaving Wisc. for Arkansas (or maybe Mike Reily if you consider Oregon St. to be a great program)

Saban left the NFL and Harbaugh/Meyer were unemployed when they were hired. Just look at all of the big time jobs that have come open and who the eventual hire was

Georgia - Alabama DC
Tenn. - Cincinnati HC
Auburn - Ark. St. HC
Texas - Louisville HC
Notre Dame - Cincinnati HC
USC - Interim HC
Florida - Texas DC, then Colorado St. HC
Penn St. - Vandy HC

These are some of the winningest programs in college football history and ALL arguably had to "settle" for someone the fanbase thought was unworthy of the job. If LSU were to attract a coach who has won a national title in the last 5 years and played in the playoffs another season, it would be a HUGE accomplishment.

Yessir! Agreed, thats why I posted this. I've heard it more that should be possible, and it actually seems like that is what the majority wants. Well, the majority is just not retarded, and clamoring for Coach O. This post was to help show that.

This is a reality that no one wants to accept.

I'll admit I was wrong about Coach O. Then again this is the first time I kept up with football more consistently in over five years. So ill eat crow, coach o made a dumb decision by having fournette play. poor execution at the end zone by the players, and that usually comes down to coaching.

For people who have been to these facilities, in your objective opinion does everything LSU offer as a program hold up to these schools?

Thank you for admitting you were wrong. Now get on board with us getting a qualified HC! I would take Jimbo, Herman, even Mike Gundy, Fedora, Patterson. Someone who has been a successful college head coach.

Gundy has a mullet but he also almost had Okie State in the NC game against us in 2011.

I think it was the BOT who got antsy and forced his hand and wanted to move on when Saban wouldn't talk. From what I have been told by people who would know, Mal was Saban or bust from the get go.
