Can we get Gundy as long as he keeps his mullet?

Why do some people mention Fedora? Some people on the rant make it sound as if he's horrible, even people were mentioning Bobby Petrino.

Fedora gets mentioned because he built up two different programs to 11 win seasons, and because he is and offensive specialist.

I think it was the BOT who got antsy and forced his hand and wanted to move on when Saban wouldn't talk. From what I have been told by people who would know, Mal was Saban or bust from the get go.

That is fairly accurate. It seems almost ludicrous now to type, but the PTB weren't 100% behind firing/buying out Shula, nor did MM have their full support on Saban as a target. The thought was that he wouldn't leave the NFL and if he did, he wouldn't be long for the college game before bouncing back to the pros. The wooing of Saban was secondary to the convincing of the donors to get the money together to get Saban.

Exactly my point my friend. Paying Harbaugh about $8million a year.

You cant pay for chicken and expect Filet Mignon.

We need to go pay for a great coach to have one.

There is already a 70-year-old coach on the staff in Pete Jenkins.

I just hope LSU is able to lure either Fisher or Herman.

waaaayyyy too much logic in this post. since you're obviously new to the board, allow me to tell you how it goes around here

A. defend the idea of hiring coach o because "he's one of us"/ he's friends with lane kiffin

B. continue delusional posts about how unbelievable awesome it will be when we get herman and have him keep aranda

C. grudgingly support the idea of hiring Jimbo. "he's not who i want but our alleva will screw it up and hire him"

Whatever option you choose be sure to include as many emotional overreactions as possible, call anyone who disagrees with you some form of idiot, and always float ideas that have no basis in reality

Sabah would not have won the NC in 2007. Ryan Perriloux was never going to play for Saban. Never! RP played a lot that season and was the SEC Championship Game MVP. We wouldn't have made it that far with some walk-on playing QB in Jimbo's system
i dont think saban was even recruiting perriloux, mccoy probably would have come here, so with sabans defense & fisher coaching mccoy, yeah i think saban wins back to back in 06 & 07 at lsu

lets be real. Alabama, OSU, and Michigan returned to prominence,

lets be real. Those schools got those coaches because they all wanted the hell out of Dodge

Harbaugh and the 49ers were a shite storm

As was Saban and the Dolphins

Urban had already parted ways with UF, and needed a good gig

The only guy who fits that bill for LSU is Fisher. Wife embarrassed him, 'thug factory' title being tossed around, 3+ losses per year, losing streak in bowl games. Jimbo Fisher looking for a brand new ho!

Alabama made an offer to, then, West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez before snagging Saban.

I doubt their 1st choice would have been as successful.

Actually mo. Saban was THE choice. To understand our situation you have to back up.

We had a hard time leaving the Bryant days behind. After the trustees (not the REC) finally realized we had to get the best coach we were falling behind.
Problem was at this same time we were being investigated. Starting in the summer of 2000. DuBose bombed out but we didn't know what the penalties would be but the word was they would be bad.
Remember this. If not for probation Shula isn't the coach, neither is Fran. it would have been Butch Davis but the penalties were going to be severe and he went to the Browns. Fran left because of the penalties. SH
hula was not a guy anybody wanted, he would just take the job under the sanctions which nobody else would.
He was nothing more than a body until we were back to 85 in 2007. Saban was talked about from DAY ONE as the guy we wanted. We had wanted him ever since watching him at LSU. He wanted to wait until the Dolphins season was over and RichRod was a hot name. Honestly, most Bama fans were meh with RichRod. When RichRod said yes it was still a week or so until we were gonna have a PC. He bailed the morning of the PC but we only then had 3 weeks until the NFL season would be over and Saban was interested. We waited, sacrificed recruiting to get the guy everybody wanted.
Point being, you don't have sanctions hanging over you. The ONLY reason Shula was coach was that nobody else would take a team that was losing 30 schollies and a 2 year bowl ban. If you want Fisher, put out the money and go get him. Same with Herman but texas is gonna be a fight there.

Exactly. Bama learned their lesson too, from all the bad years with subpar coaches. So they got Saban.

LSU needs to do same if they want to compete.
