that's so easy to say. "just go out and hire a great coach". Of course, that is what everyone wants. But things just broke the right way for Michigan, Ohio st, and Alabama. They had easy home run picks available and looking to land some where. It's not just identifying a coach, it is him being available for hire. Unfortunately there is no Harbaugh, Meyer, or Saban level coach out there right now that might even remotely be interested in coaching at LSU next season. So we are going to have to take a risk on a Fisher, Herman, Fedora, Coach O, or Fleck coach. All come with a variety of risks of some sort or another.
