If tweet fails to load, click here. Bringing back the glory days in Ruston. That 2012 offense he ran was insane. Only two schools have averaged over 50 points a game in a season since the Franklin led offense did for Tech in 2012.

Pretty sure those Sonny Dykes defenses were giving up about 60 a game back then.

The defensive philosophy was “We don’t care if you score, just give us the ball back”
With the shite we watched last season, we need something exciting to watch. Franklin has kind of washed out of the coaching circles at this point so he’s got nothing to lose. Tech’s fan base is fired up about this hire

the A&M game that year was fun though
Was that the game that Tech had 3rd and goal from 90 yards away?

No. TAMU 59-Louisiana Tech 57 at Independence Stadium in 2012. Manziel went wild. Tech could have tied it to go to OT but blew the 2point conversion attempt

Dude sold his system to everyone back in the day. Must be a millionaire by now.

So about his retirement letter from 2021...
quote:
“Football is not a contact sport. It’s a violent game,” Franklin wrote. “If played the way it must be played to maximize success, you must mentally and physically condition a group of young boys, or men, to have little to no regards for their health, or the health of their opponents. You must swarm to the football and destroy everything on your pathway to reach it.
“Over the years I have been both the destroyer and the “destroyee” as a player and as a coach. I’ve witnessed and partaken in the splattering of brain cells and the breaking of bones. And on November 21, 2020 at the ripe young age of 63, I ended this violent experiment in an unexpected final game of the 2020 season at Troy University. It is time to discover what I want to do when I grow up.”

I remember when there was a barefoot kicker at A&M named Tony Franklin.

Tubbs stole two of Troy's OC's away from us at two separate places. Franklin was our OC for a couple of years, and left for Auburn to be fired in his first season. After Franklin left for Auburn, Neal Brown was promoted to our OC, and then Tubbs hired him for the same position at Texas Tech. Brown ended up back at Troy as the head coach for a few years before going to WVU.
