About the only good thing is that for good or ill, Orgeron is Alleva's last coaching hire, at least in football.

its hard for me to buy that LSU is the first tier these days when they hired a guy with a career losing record

Well then you’re a raging dumbass!! One hire, no matter your perception of it, doesn’t move LSU down to a second tier SEC job. God what an idiot.

I wouldn't call us a destination job but I wouldn't call us a stepping stone job either.

Somewhere in between.

This list looks about perfect to me, but I'd but South Carolina above Arkansas. I think it's a better state for recruiting, and better stadium atmosphere. They're in the SECeast, don't have to play Bama, Aub, and LSU every year. I think having a big in state rival like Clemson actually could help spin a recruit, much like auburn being Bamas rival. Just my opinion, but other than that, I think your list is spot on.

It’s not a top five job because the expectations are unrealistic. It scares coaches off quite honestly.

Let me put it like this:

We would be calling for Harbaugh’s head after an 8-4 season in his third year.

Mississippi State is not as good of a job as Arkansas. Arkansas has been to 3 times as many SEC championship games . Petrino had 2 seasons with a winning record out of 4 in conference play compared to Mullen’s 1 out of 8 . South Carolina had 3 straight 11 win seasons with Spurrier. Your fan base praised Mullen like he was as a god and he only had 1 winning season in conference play .

Yet, Mullen is now the new Florida head coach! Way to put Mullen as not so good of a head coach and now being the new head coach of Florida! Way to go!

We are talking potential here, so LSU is still Tier 1 with resources and recruiting grounds.

You make an excellent point. I see the two as nearly equal, but the Clemson rivalry angle may flip them. Arkansas has proximity to Texas for recruiting, but SC is not bad for its size and being close to Georgia helps too. They also benefit from a second pseudo-rivalry with UGA, so I defer to your correction.

So in a strange way Saban's success may make it less of a destination job than it was before

Bama was historically a top 5 all time program before Saban ever arrived so it’s not like he exposed a fan base to winning titles that had never experienced it before. Sure, besides Stallings, no one matched the Bryant days until Saban but other than when Bama was under sanctions, they were generally pretty good. Proven coaches with a competitive drive will not shy away from the standard Saban has set.

Lsu is definitely Tier 1. Only major program in a state loaded with talent, top 7 in athletic revenue, top notch facilities, highest paid staff, played in 2 national championship games in the past 10 years.

It doesn't mean we've competed like a top 10 program lately but LSU is a top 10 job and the pieces are in place to compete with anyone.

That "career losing record" as u say it won't be accurate for long if Coach O keeps the momentum going in the current direction. Which is the RIGHT direction if u haven't noticed. STFU about Coach O. Your post doesn't even relate to the question being asked in this thread u moron. And yes LSU is a destination job.
