Let's talk Ed O's hires so far

since this whole thing relies upon him hiring more intelligent people than himself, its probably something we should discuss.
Matt Canada- Looked good on paper but 3 games in you essentially tried to pull the plug on everything his offense is. I assumed you knew what you were getting with this offense when you hired him (I hope at least) so why panic so quickly when it didn't immediately gel? So now it appears you're basically trying to run off your very first hire under the super coordinator model, not a great look. B on the initial hire, D in execution because you did what you said you were not going to do and meddled.
Pete Jenkins- Great coach but basically disappearing in the off season months I think hurt us on the recruiting front. Seems like we would have been better off with him in a shadow staff role.
Mickey Joseph- After rightfully firing Juluuke because he was way out of his depth, you turn around and hire a guy that is way out of his depth at a tougher position to coach to appease a couple of jackass NOLA coaches. Solid F here.
Greg McMahon- Assuming he's in fact your future STs coach I'll give it a thumbs down. Hung around in NOLA way too long due to being one of Payton's made men and he will offer you nothing on the recruiting front.
Tommie Robinson- No complaints here
Dennis Johnson- Seems like a solid up and comer. I can't really speak to his coaching prowess but does appear to be a good recruiter
If this house of cards is dependent upon him nailing the hires, he'd better pick it up.

he can start by getting Austin Thomas a raise.

You should post this on tRant and see how well it goes.

The only great coach on our FB staff is aranda. He may be headed to NFL soon.

Seriously, you and everyone like you look like Tennessee fans. Put down the mouse and step away from the computer.

just trying to have a discussion here beaux. You said with the right hires, he'd be fine. The early results on that aren't very good so far

All coaches have to make good hires and the only questionable one I see is Joseph.

9 and 3 with this team ain't bad. Doubt many could have pulled that off.

You’re not seeing a bigger picture simply throwing out this year’s record.

LSU was more talented than all but 2 teams on the schedule. They split those games and still wound up 9-3.
I doubt many couldn't have pulled of 9-3, to be honest.

no issue at all with him hiring an OC that he found out he disagreed philosophically with 3 games in? No issue at all with him running his first major hire off after 1 year in? Super coordinator model and he flubbed up the first hire

I'm sure we'll continue to get 5 conference wins against lame duck regimes man.

this was comical right here.
you hire this guy to make a change and you shut him down 3 games in?

No wonder speculation was that they were at "odds".
Canada is thinking "why the hell am I here then?"

An HONEST assessment of Ed's HC performance thus far is a B-. The first quarter of the season was fricky. We ran the SEC gauntlet well enough, and we finished in good form. Yes i know the SEC was in a down year, but LSU was also transitioning on offense and defense was young.
I'm not saying O was the right/best hire at all, but he got us back on track so i give him credit for that. You can critique every little hire he makes if you want, but if they are getting it done on the field isn't that what really matters here?

Wasn't O's hire though.

Super coordinator model
All major programs have the super coordinator model. It's where college football is now.
I don't know all the facts (no one does) about the supposed feud with Canada, so I can't really have an issue either way. And Canada hasn't left yet.
Regardless, sometimes personalities don't mesh. Changes are made for many reasons. Orgeron has to make great hires, as all coaches do. If he doesn't, he will be fired. Seems pretty simple.

McMahon to ST is such an awful move. At least BDP and Joe Rob could recruit.
