Since when is a 1.1 million dollar bump not much more money?

Couple that with the fact that Texas has no state Income Tax.

Edit: But for the record, I don't want the evil little dwarf. Not saying I wouldn't support him, but I'd rather not have to try to defend him.

SABAN CONTRACT LINK

According to Ammendment #2, Saban is set to receive a $1.6M Completion bonus on 1/15/12.

* Probably not a big issue for PSU/Texas to pick up this bonus but Saban isn't going to want to give it up.
According to the Original Contract starting on page #27 Saban must to the following "if" he is going to terminate employment without cause:

* Must notify the University within 5 days of the termination date during the 30 day period following the teams last regularly scheduled match, or 30 days notice at any other time. (Saban would won't to start recruiting asap so the latest day he would want to notify Alabama would be somewhere around 12/26/11 given their last game was Auburn 11/26/11). If he waits after this date it would push is hiring into late January.

* He can't recruit any players not Alabama was recruiting unless the school he is going to had prior communication with that same recruit. (not a big deal)

ARTICLE VI - PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYMENT

* Section 6.01 states Saban has to notify Alabama about any inquiries of other employment either directly towards him or any agents.

It seems to me that any of these stipulations would have set off alarms within the network of boosters and other individuals that put out information to the Alabama media.

The problem with having Saban as your coach is it's impossible to separate supposition from fact until time passes or the negative event happens. He interviewed for an NFL job after every season but 1 while at LSU. While he is not as hot an NFL prospect now, he's still thinking about it, vis-a-vis his legacy. He doesn't have any sort of history that would suggest he stays at Bama for 2 or 3 more years, other than his age. So, when $100 million for 10 years starts flying around - nobody would believe it's possible EXCEPT for the combination of Texas and Saban (and $exton is stirring the pot). If things had happened differently at Penn State - Saban used to say that was his dream job.

He cannot like Tuscaloosa all that much - he and his family are politically far more liberal than the average Louisiana, Mississippi or Alabama resident. Texas only makes sense because of the money and it's in Austin. No other move for Saban makes sense, except possibly a final shot at the NFL. Not that Alabama has unlimited money but Bama can outbid any other NCAA program.......except Texas, if they want to do that.

We were so fatigued by the yearly situation that we told $exton - "We're not going to get into a bidding war with an NFL team...again", then made that position public.

If he has a hatred for the political atmosphere of a conservative state, why has he built a retirement home in the state of Georgia?

Do you think he would take it? And do you think he would be a good fit at UT? Heard some rumblings that Texas will be a little desperate to replace Mack at some point...with no clear option on a replacement, they may have to open the pocket book to land a big fish. The big fish was going to be Urban Meyer, until Tressel got fired. I really think that Bama is Saban's last stop, but do you think the money and the potential to win titles at three different schools are too alluring?

At the very least Sexton will make Bama squeal!

I still any information Sexton "might" try to float would be picked up pretty quick by the Alabama network of boosters. Sexton is very close with Rex Jones. He's a former Alabama basketball player and father of current Alabama football players, Barrett and Harrison Jones. They are neighbors in Memphis for goodness sakes.

You cant be serious.

Questions about $abuns integrity stem from the architect of his carreer $exton. If $abun and $exton want more money from bama...then information will be leaked to make bama up the ante. If $abun wants to take A job elsewhere...bama wont know until it basically too late. Thats why there are no real hooks in his contract/s ever. And thats what you get when you sell your soul, or in this case tradition,....to the devil.

But there are certain stipulations that he and his agent must adhere to, according to the language of the contract, if he's even contacted by another program. Regardless, Mack Brown isn't going anywhere this year and Penn State is a program no one wants to touch.

Texas won't be willing to outbid what Bama would match. They're not going to pay $10 million a year or more and whatever they would be willing to pay, Bama would pay.

That's in the woods - and that doesn't mean he won't have a main home somewhere else, whether he keeps his house in Tuscaloosa, Austin or an NFL city.

You want to believe this way too much. But alas, you'll eventually be right and he will step down at Alabama at some point in the future. He's 60 years old afterall.

They $hit the money bed with the Longhorn network. Now, the question is: move on from Mack, wno is only 2 months older than Saban, to Saban who can win now, or identify the next big coach, and gamble he can stop the financial bleeding.

Who is "they"? Texas? Texas isn't losing money on the Longhorn Network. The money spent getting the network off the ground belongs solely to ESPN.

OMG! That PSU Board rivals North Koreans & Oh Great Leader on brainwash, myopathy, and utter delusion..

Those fans help make sense of how Sandusky happened for decades.

If Texas wants him, I think he would go. The money would be phenomenal, and he would have a bit easier time than competing in the SEC. And BAMA cannot match Texas when it comes to money; probably no one can match Texas when it comes to money.
