They need to lick their wounds, realize who is best for the program, and get Les. He won't win them a championship, but he'll leave the next coach with a clean, loaded program to build on.

I think the fan base would accept all of those except Chad Morris, Hoke...maybe Fedora. Currie would save himself some more headache and go get Tee and give him the money to hire assistants, and be done with it. Fans, former players want Tee.

Brent Venables could be a good hire for them

Spoke with someone at SMU this morning. Not saying it won't happen, but he didn't say anything about being contacted by or worried about losing Morris to Tennessee.

Morris would be a fool to turn that job down.

Why?

What makes Tee Martin so great that he is worth fighting for and setting fire to Doeren and Schiano?

Any of those except Hoke would make perfect sense, so I say they go with Hoke.

Why not add serious concussions to the list of TN problems?

No he wouldn't.

He is a Texas guy. There are going to be openings happening in that state. Texas Tech contacted him prior to the end of the season. KK is likely done after next season. He is still on the table for aTm if some things do not work out with their top targets. He is also an option for Arkansas, once they get down that far(if they ever do).

The view on the Tennessee job isn't a pleasant one right now. Their fans just revolted on an announced hire. They've fired all but one head coach since Fulmer left. The one they didn't fire left in the middle of the night for another job. Their administration is a dumpster fire. Nothing about Tennessee right now makes me think Morris is a "fool" for not listening to them.

I hear ya man..I love Tee but personally, I don't want him as the HC. Most want him with the thinking everyone will rally around him...hoping he will get a top shelf staff, etc. Former players are lining up for the guy...it's pretty amazing to watch. I don't see Currie doing it though tbh. Word on the street is that Peyton Manning is killing this idea for whatever reasons

So you're telling me Chad Morris would turn down the TN job to wait out KK at Texas Tech? I don't think you even believe that yourself.

I do agree with A&M. If somehow Jimbo fell through, he'd want to at least be in the mix.

Morris coaches at SMU where he is headed to year 4 with a 14-22 record. He can't expect to get bigger job offers than TN with that resume.

How likely do you think the next coach is from this list?

There's no guarantee that any would accept the offer, except possibly Hoke. I'm not sure even Tee Martin would take it at this point. There's more down-side than up-side for the rest as long as there is another job open that might be in play.

Morris is still quite close with Dabo. If he was offered the job I have no doubt he'd reachout to Dabo for advice. Dabo has constantly on the importance of his great relationship and buy-in with our AD, President, and Board of Trustees. He calls it the most under-appreciated element of a program's success.

I have no doubt he'd take one look at Tennessee and tell Morris to stay the f away from the cesspool. I really don't think Morris would take it.

Just perusing twitter, the idea of hiring Les Miles seems to have a great deal of support from the Tennessee fanbase.

I do think Les has a price. It may be worth it for the AD to overpay for Les, appease the fanbase and salvage this whole thing.

UT is currently doggy paddling in the deep end and Les would be a life preserver at this point. He could bring Chief with him. He will have them competing in the East. He is a nationally well-known, experienced coach from the SEC that has won. They would save some face and stabilize their program even if it is only for a few seasons.

SECW needs this hire to be one that will cause Bama trouble each season and not be a gimme like it has for the last decade.

I can appreciate that sentiment but Morris is playing a dangerous game if he turns down a job like TN at this point in his career. Pretty soon he's going to have to start producing as a HC. He's been able to hide behind his Clemson rep and SMU being dogshit. Let's say he turns in another 7-5/6-6 type year. Does he even show up on any P5 coaching lists?
