re: Legit options at this point for Tennessee to pursue...let's list them out

UT is currently doggy paddling in the deep end and Les would be a life preserver at this point. He could bring Chief with him. He will have them competing in the East. He is a nationally well-known, experienced coach from the SEC that has won. They would save some face and stabilize their program even if it is only for a few seasons.
Les would be better served getting Steele from Auburn and bringing in Tee Martin to call the offense. If there is some early success, slap Tee with the HCiW label to keep teams from negative recruiting Les' age.

Morris is playing a dangerous game if he turns down a job like TN at this point in his career. Pretty soon he's going to have to start producing as a HC. He's been able to hide behind his Clemson rep and SMU being dog shite. Let's say he turns in another 7-5/6-6 type year. Does he even show up on any P5 coaching lists?
That's a good point with precedent: Schiano(post-Tampa Bay) and CEO basically no interviews or offers except the lone divisive one

I’m starting to think that, like another program, UT may have to fire their AD before they can hire their next coach.
No high profile coach in his right mind is going to go there under that AD. A guy that caves that easy to social media pressure is not going to go to bad for his coach in tough situations.

Just perusing twitter, the idea of hiring Les Miles seems to have a great deal of support from the Tennessee fanbase.
I do think Les has a price. It may be worth it for the AD to overpay for Les, appease the fanbase and salvage this whole thing.
Hell, it would be hilarious if Miles took less money, say 3.5 mill, so that LSU had to keep paying him a million per year, then took the extra funds and pulled Aranda with him to Knoxville.

Chad Morris
Kevin Sumlin
Les Miles
Larry Fedora
Mike Leach
Brady Hoke
Tee Martin (lack of HC experience hurts his chances)
These are the only 2 legit options.

Les Miles with Tee as HCIW actually sounds interesting - and I think HCIW and Les are stupid so I'm surprised at myself. I don't think Les wants to go bust his arse again though with the buyout checks rolling in at his age.
At this point Sumlin wouldn't be horrible but he may want to regroup for a little while.
People also already mentioned Venables. I agree.
Dino Babers - kind of a risky chance , my wildcard pick that I don't see anyone talking about. UT is the laugh at the moment but not sure they have fallen far enough to have to get someone like this though. He has done some good things with Syracuse but he is older and he might need to show a couple more seasons of success before a bigger program would call, making age an even bigger problem.
Applewhite - maybe ? meh hire to me though.

Brady Hoke may end up being the guy after eight more people turn them down.

And ole Miss grad and Louisiana native with no ties to the program outside of one of his kids playing there? And the other 2 went to his Alma mater

Chief would be welcomed back there regardless of how they felt after Les lured him away. I think Steele tries to stay in Alabama for as long as he can. He is looking at the end game....retirement, pension bitches!

Dino Babers, Sonny Dykes, Hal Mumme...

Throw in Joe Kines as DC and it’s a home run. Best defense in the SEC year one
