I know GA Tech has academic requirements more rigorous than most schools they compete with, but I can't see how this isn't an attractive job.
It's in a conference with only one "super power" at the moment. It's in a large city which seems like it would be a desirable place college kids to live. And, that city is the largest city in a state that produces a substantial number of good college football players.
I know the facilities aren't great (compared to SEC schools) and they aren't willing to spend a ton of money (relative to other big schools). But with the lack of really "big" jobs available this coaching cycle, it's hard to say Georgia Tech isn't close to the top of the list

There are whispers that Geoff Collins could be a strong candidate as well. he has spent two different stints on the Tech coaching staff (once under OLeary and once under Gailey). He was the director of player personnel in 2006 before going to Bama. in that role, he was in charge of on-campus visits, camps, and other recruiting efforts which helped them get a recruiting class ranked from 10-15 that year.
He's also from the Atlanta area (Conyers I think) and "friend of a friend" type sources say that he has strong interest in moving back to Atlanta permanently for this job.
Since he spent some time in the SEC, what is the general consensus on his ability to coach and recruit? I've read some articles about how he is trying to add some "swag" to temple football, and while I hate it when people use that term, it's something that GT desperately needs lol.

Geoff Collins would be a strong hire. Very energetic. I think he could boost Tech's recruiting quite a bit. Yeah he does a lot of the cringey swag stuff.

Lol...I operate in facts. FSU and UGA are two different programs. So no, the point is not the same.
Yeah, but GT is only 1-2 since FSU became relevant again in 2010, you've lost 6 of 7 to Clemson and 9 out of 11 to UGA. They guy has a point.

I have a friend who is quite funny. He was never an athlete but conveyed his difficulties with math to me:
“I never understood the letters next to the numbers. It’s all just a mystery to me.”

I know exactly what our record is against those teams. I suffer through that shite on a yearly basis and certainly don't need someone to look it up on Wikipedia for me lol.
I was simply correcting him that he shouldn't include FSU in that statement. We have either beaten or lost to FSU by one possession in every game since Johnson got here. We've also beaten UGA 3 times in Johnson's tenure, not that it is any better than 2, but if you are going to come in with your carefully researched facts, then at least be accurate.

Is it just me or does Bill Clark make too much sense for GA Tech? I don’t understand why he hasn’t already been hired.

It's Geoff Collins or bust as far as I'm concerned. He literally checks off every box that our AD said he was looking for at the start of this.

And this is why Paul Johnson was the best man for Georgia Tech, and also why it doesn't matter who they hire, the ceiling is not very high.

leader at the turn

Source: Temple's Geoff Collins has emerged as the leading candidate at Georgia Tech. No offer has been made yet. But he was in Atlanta on Thursday, met with Tech officials and they've indicated he's the favorite. A deal could happen as soon as tonight.

Tech fans have successfully convinced many that all their football players have to be rocket scientists. Stephon Marbury managed Tech for 2 years.
If Collins is as good recruiting as is said, he could help dispel that myth that Tech is the only good school in America that can't get good talent. NW can't recruit just everybody but somehow they've developed a consistent winner.

I heard last week that Collins and Brent Key were two of the top targets.

Paul Johnson has a higher winning percentage at Tech than Fitzgerald has at NW. They have been similarly up and down. Not sure why one is seen as consistent and the other is not. Oh yeah. NW won ten games this year and Tech won 7. People have short memories.

This entire post is shite.
Marbury only played one season which meant he only really had to go to class for one semester. Once you get through the fall still eligible, you can ignore school in the winter if you intend on leaving for the NBA.
Let me know the next time Northwestern wins their conference and plays in two "bcs" bowls.
Georgia Tech is no UGA or Clemson or Wisconsin or whatever, but they sure as hell have accomplished more than fricking Northwestern.
No one claims that our players are geniuses. It's a factual statement that we only offer B.S. degrees with a limited number of majors. That's the struggle, not that we need Harvard level students to play football.

We'll see. We all have our sauces and my is pretty well connected to the athletic department at Tech. He told me Whisenhunt was just a nod to him and that Collins and Key were at the top of the list.
