The latest rumor is that Jim Grobe has been offered and we will accept by Thursday. Again, right now it's just a rumor. If true I think he would make a good coach for us. Not a "big name home run" type coach, but a good coach nonetheless. He's been successful at Wake and is considered a great coach by a lot of his peers.

The negatives are his age (56) and a lot of questions about his recruiting abilities.

I'm sure if he is a great coach our AD will find a way to screw this up. Hopefully he has plenty of cell phone minutes left.

I surely do not think a 56 y/o should be considered a negative as a HC??

I think it would be a solid hire for sure.

Good Luck...
Hope it works out for UM.

Don't get to hung up on the age thing...that's just two years older than LES.

Besides, I think 56 is the new 46...

My wife's friend at the AD in Ann Arbour, told her the same thing. Again she's not at a super high level, so this isn't 100% positive. But she said word around the office was that Grobe has been offered the job. Didn't say anything about accepting it.

She also said Grobe was the top choice of some at the AD. It seemd there were three camps origianlly the Ferentz camp (lead by Carr), the Miles camp, and the Grobe camp.

All I knew about the situation was that Schiano had been made an official offer and he declined.

Grobe sounds like an excellent choice. Much better than Hoke or another one of Carr's cronies. Hope it works out for ya'll.

Shoot, any coach hire at Michigan is good news at this point for LSU.

It surely will silence the talking heads at ESPN about how Miles may still go to Michigan.

Defensively great hire.
Style is ugly but gets results.
Would like to see a little more imagination offensively but maybe with better talent at Michigan he can open it up more.

Not a chance. Miles is playing for a NC in a few weeks, he has never made a secret of his love for Michigan or of his dream about one day coaching there. He is a much easier target than a folk hero at WF.

Glad I am not a pregnant woman. I would hate to have that be the last thing I would see before child birth.

I just hope Michigan gets a coach soon so all the sports writer blather will cease. I swear, I'd like to reach thru the tv and bitch slap Bayless right now.

Anyways, I hope UM finds a good coach, someone who could right the ship and bring back some of your mojo.
