We may get beat by a bunch or keep it close but we will get the Tigers best shot and that shows respect.
True that. Dont think you guys will get anything less that the Tigers best. Which is why we think we will win. But you do deserve the respect after what you have accomplished.

People can be upset all they want, but Saban needs time to get the ship righted.
Yes...I think Saban can bring it around. However to the old glory days...Dont think so. The SEC is crazy and no one can dominate like they did in the past (The Gators under the Ol Ball Coach included). I think Bama fans would have to accept the fact that the new equality in the SEC is only going to be more evident as the schools go after talent and good coaches. So if Bama fans can stand for a SEC West title every 3 years or so then maybe Saban will do enough.
I think it is based on the fact that WVU did not pan out all the things they promised Rod. This would perhaps be not following the contract in good faith...so there may be some wriggle room from Rod on this one.
quote:
Add RRod to that list. Reading the WVa boards, he said he would be there for however long they wanted him AND he is a homegrown boy. He stuck it to them bad!
I think there is more to this than meets the eye with all the bad promises from the AD and all that.
However Miles was true to his word and I for one always trusted his word!!!
Dont see a reason for Myers to move. He is contending for the BCSNC and SECCG next year. Then again, he has already won that. So what not try something else if indeed he wants that.

1- Reaches a higher BCS ranking than Saban or Petrino within the first 2 years
Agree with King Joey
quote:
2- Stays at Nebraska longer than either Saban or Patrino stay at their jobs
I think so
quote:
3- Wins a National Championship at Nebraska within 5 years
Not sure...do not think so but who knows. If he can manage some good years, you may find that all of sudden the recruits want to go to Nebraska for its tradition as well. Then it may be possible

Once again I am only talking about M&M in the morning. Not any other show. As a general point I agree with what you guys are saying. I am stating this assuming that you are specifically talking with reference to what Mike Greenberg said in "M&M in the Morning" show. Colin Cowherd said a lot of things today that did not have any basis for and I completely agree with you guys on what he said.
Which he did. He started by saying that he probably does not know much, and in fact it could be argued that he did not know anything. All he was referring to was the reported article in the DFP and he read right out of it to be sure he did not add anything else in it. Then he played what Miles had told when he attended the Mike and Mike show. He then went on to say that if Miles now leaves it is bad.
Well he did mention that he hopes he is wrong and that Miles was a man of his word and was going to stay at LSU in the immediate future. He also mentioned that if that was the case then everyone can forget what they were saying about this at that point. Basically disregard what he was saying then. He also mentioned that he thought (from Miles on the show) that Miles was genuine so he hoped Miles would stick to his word. I understand the whole idea of CYA here. I guess at this point I doubt they follow up with comments on the show specifically to what you were saying. However personally I think he did cover himself enough to where if he was wrong it would be ok. Off course everyone here may disagree with this...
Right. I dont think these shows are journalistic News shows. They are sports opinions. :geauxtigers:

Two things: first of all, whenever using that standard, you be clear and specific that you are not saying claiming that anything you say is true BEFORE you say it.

Second, you can give your opinion on almost anything legitimately, if you are willing to come back after having been proven wrong and both own up to your mistake (because holding and/or expressing an incorrect opinion is a mistake) AND correct it.

Wonder what Lou Holtz would say about all of this. Yeah he works for ESPN too

Good luck with that...Now hopefully we can put the Miles thing to rest...

As for your last post, if you are talking in general I agree with you. Since in ESPN yesterday I heard a lot of other analysts/ journalists that were talking as if Miles already moved and that he was a liar. I also remember a ESPN article by Jemele Hill and in this article there was nothing there that was true. Seemed like this was pure opinion and speculation. I agree in this case that it was BS. This was talked in the rant on more than one thread.
I was only responding to what was mentioned in M&M. From listening to him I dont think that is what he meant. He specifically mentioned that he may not know everything and he could be wrong. However he opined that if Miles left it would be bad. Which I dont think anyone here disagrees. We would all understand considering this is Alma Mater but it would piss a lot of us if he left now.
But on a general note, I agree with you and am glad we have a class guy like Miles as our coach.

I understand what you guys are saying, however this is why he added the caveat. I dont think you can give your opinion on anything otherwise. Remember this is his opinion based on a report from another source. He said he did not know Miles and his integrity. I am not saying that he is correct, however from what we see in the world of caoching today how can you expect someone to not be skeptical. The only reason why you and me are mad is because we believe in Miles and his word. Others may be hesitant to do that (considering everything that goes on). The other thing he said was that he did not care if Miles lied in the program, but to sign a document that you were staying and then bolt in a week would be bad. I tend to agree with him on this too. I understand if you feel this way if a LSU fan were to say the same thing as Greenie but from some one who is far from the program, I dont see how they can trust anyone...Just saying

suggested that Greenberg's wife might be a woman of easy virtue
I agree this would be offending, but in this case he did not say that. He said that if Miles left ("If Miles Left" being the catch phrase) then he would be whatever it is you want to call it. He did not make a blanket statement that he was man of lesser morality like your example suggests. It would be like saying if ones wife is sleeping with other men then she is a slut (to pull from your example). I would have to agree to that if that was the case...
Yeah I hear you. I am not sure if they f/u this morning though although I did see sportscenter come in between and talk about Miles story in between M&M this morning. Cannot get the pod casts from my office but will get back if they did f/u. Do not think they did. However as always. Glad that the Hat is here

Please understand that if Miles had left, SABAN was trying to get this job. He would have left w/ no 2nd thoughts to return to LSU.
I understand that he would've come. My question is would he be ok. I mean the first time when he came our expectations were not that high. All we wanted was a few good seasons and to remain competitive. Then we outdid that. Now every year, unless LSU is a contender for the NC, the fan base is not happy. So do you really think the pressure would be ok. I mean I know Alabama may be worse but coming back here may not be all that easy for him either esp. if he needs to compete with the record Miles has. If LSU wins the NC that makes the whole thing even harder!!! Just my thoughts

I hate to do this guys, but I heard M&M from the pod cast and did not think there was an issue with what they said. Greenie was very honest that he did not know Miles and therefore did not know his integrity. He said if Miles left it would be worse than Saban (dont think he is wrong). He said if Miles was staying then all the time they spent ( 4 - 5 mins) could be swept under the rug. He felt that when Miles came to the M&M show last week he thought he was genuine and hoped that he would stick to his word, but if he did not Greenie thought it was very not ingenuous. I kind of agree with him. We know who Miles is and what kind of person he is. They do not, so thats what prompted his comment. How can you blame him as we see something like all the time with coaches. Happened with Saban and now with Petrino. I mean if you do not know the person how are you to know...I believe he was careful in not roasting him yesterday and was clear that only if Miles moved would he be painted bad...
Well obviously being an LSU fan I do not agree with a lot of what they say but you're right they were pretty good. At least they focus on SEC...Rocket, thanks for the link
I can understand them knocking Les Miles but why then prop up Nick Saban. Would they not try to talk up the Bulldogs. Just trying to find their tilt. Apologize for the silly Qs
I am not familiar with this. Could you guys tell me where this is from. Cuz they seem to cherish making fun of us. Esp. the caliber of Miles as a coach.
