Why is he considered dirty?
He managed to get us dinged by the NCAA in less than year here. At USC he deflated footballs and when they were caught blamed it on an student assistant. He also switched jerseys on a player during a game to try and confuse the other team (not against the rules but seen as low class/unethical). Those are just a few of his classy moves but really there are too many dickish, slimy, moves to list.
The man is snake. Always had been and always will be.

He and Urban Meyer are the only two who've ever united all SEC fans in shared opinion. Even Bammer fans thought Kiffin was a scum bag and liar until just now.

Can Kiffin coach?
Saban will still be in charge, so I'm not worried about any bullcrap.
Is he in the same coaching league as Mike Shula?
Of course Shula was classy and a good OC/QB coach but an average HC.

@ChaseGoodbread: Told that Lane Kiffin is Dreamland-bound for dinner. Everyone in there will notice him. But I doubt he'll get asked for autographs.

I know he is a terrible HC, but as an assistant does he
have any value? Recruiting? Working with QB's?
Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be a lame OC
hire by Saban. Like Major Applewhite.

Personally I don't think he's a bad assistant. He did well at USC as a recruiter and assistant. Saban obviously sees something in him. That being said I think he's very dirty. He may not break the rules but he is going to find ways around them in recruiting and do everything he can to beat the other team in recruiting ethically or not. BIggest example I can think of is Janzen Jackson from Lake Charles, LA. He committed to LSU and stayed committed until signing day he signed with UT and was basically told to do so by Kiffin and Ed O. Convinced Janzen to come play for his dad then after one year bolted for USC. Janzen ends up in trouble with the law gets kicked of the team and in a back up role at McNeese State. Those were all Janzen's poor decisions but Kiffin pulled him to the place and ditched the kid. I just can't pull for a guy like that.

I'm late as shite but what happened to their current OC?

Janzen was in trouble from day one and given a lot of chances he shouldn't have been given.
Here's what Kiffin brought us in the way of fine recruits. Janzen Jackson, Nukeese Richardson and Mike Edwards -- the three attempted to rob 2 guys at a convenience store with a pellet gun.
Nu'Keese was the recruit Kiffin crowed about because he stole him away from UF and Urban Meyer which should tell you all you need to know about the kind of guys Kiffin recruits. Nu'Keese had a lot of potential but hadn't yet lived up to the expectations. He and Edwards were dismissed and ultimately wound up taking the fall for the attempted robbery. Janzen was reinstated by Kiffin:

After Kiffin left, Janzen was given more and more help by Dooley but ultimately Janzen would never make it -- too many issues though Dooley too gave him chances.
There was nothing 'good' about the way Kiffin did anything and his judgment from the way he recruits to who recruits is suspect at best (and that's being kind).

Jackson has missed the past three games, including the Memphis game prior to his arrest. He was suspended for that game for what Kiffin said was a violation of team rules. Sources have told ESPN.com that a failed drug test was one of the factors leading to Jackson's suspension.
Prior to that suspension, Jackson had started in every game but the opener. The last game he played in was against South Carolina on Oct. 31, and he had a career-high seven tackles in that game and forced a fumble.

Guy is a piece of shite and I will think Saban has lost it if he hires Kiffin!

He's arrogant, yes. But I doubt very seriously anyone on this board truly "knows" him the way Saban and those that he talks to about him truly "know" Kiffin. Also, people get humbled by the type of shite he's gone through - most of which self-inflicted, I'll admit.
I just hate seeing people slam a guy like this based on their true personal knowledge of him that is extremely limited at best.

I swear the man has to either be sociopath or at least have a few of their skills to be able to convince people to give him chance after chance. Sociopaths are known for being able to charm and convince others to give them a chance and by the time you figure out you've been conned it's often too late - they've burned everything to the ground and are moving on to the next thing where they'll repeat the whole cycle again.
Kiffin has never earned any of the opportunities he's been handed and every time he blows something up and is seemingly out of the game, he manages to find some poor soul who is willing to give him another shot. It's amazing.

Kiffin is a perfect fit for Bama.
With what I've been hearing about Bama recruiting they are recruiting at no holds barred and money and jobs for family is no object.
Add in Kiffin, the NCAA might look towards Alabama for illegal wrongdoings.
