My dear Bama Friends and I do have many, there's no way to spend this positively. Thant would be the worst mistake you ever made. I dont care one way or the other because the guy is a scumbag. But if you want the NCAA sniffing around from the start go ahead and hire him. Definitely a downgrade from McElwain and Nussmeir.

I don't want the NCAA sniffing around, but I have zero control over who Bama hires. I wouldn't be a fan of this hire at all. I've talked much shite about this guy. However, if he's hired it will be like the guy said in SI when Saban was hired; "He might be a son of a bitch, but he's our son of a bitch now". Nothing I'd be able to do but hope for the best and support him, until he gives reason not to.

Ask Lane about chasing away Bryce Petty and Tajh Boyd. Petty was already committed to UT and Lane told him to hit the road. Told Tajh Boyd was told the same when he wanted to play for UT.

So a guy who held the head coaching jobs of the Raiders, Tennessee, and USC all before the age of 40, and who still holds offensive records as an OC is unqualified to be the OC at Alabama? Damn, I knew we were big time, but not that big time.
He can recruit and call plays at an elite level when that is all he has to focus on. His mouth is what gets him in trouble. Good thing Saban does not allow his coordinators to speak to media.

He doesn't even come close to calling plays on an elite level IMO. Average at best.

Usually the OC mostly decides on offensive players when the HC is a defense guy.

Our offense was markedly better under Chaney. Not dissimilar either but better. How'd USC offense work out? Oh it consistently dropped...
