Regardless if it’s Kiffin or not, aTm already has their guy. aTm doesn’t suddenly pay $77 million buy out and fire its coach mid season after a 40 point win to become bowl eligible if they didn’t already have a plan. $77 million and another $40 million or so for 5 years for the next guy is a lot of money for them to not have a plan. They made it clear today that a bowl game isn’t good enough and they not hiring a no name coach. If they didn’t have a plan, I figure they would wait to seasons end and do it. Doing it now leads me to believe they know who’s coming in a couple weeks.

I think we've seen time and time again that this is usually not true.

They fired Jimbo now so they can get ahead of the curve when it comes to poachable coaches. Remember, LSU fired Ed O in October after a win over UF but didn't make a hire for another month. Once it's time to make a move, you make the move. What comes next is a lot of speculation and very public rumors.

Lane Kiffin was the first coach to come to mind for aTm when the vacancy became apparent. I say he’s the one.

It is a horrible fit culturally. That fan base hates Lane. Lane hates the dog and pony show of kissing babies and shaking hands. They would not like how he handles twitter. It just isn't good for anybody.

Now if A&M got Lanning, I would be worried about Lane to Oregon.

Yep. Lane doesn't want A&M, and A&M doesn't want Lane. That's a bad fit all around. But an Oregon or Florida opening would be concerning.

Yep, it’s more about the AD securing booster money for the buyout and for the next coach

Kiffin to A&M is like trying to hammer a square peg in a round hole. There isn't a hammer big enough.

It was either y'all or Kentucky. Other games may have said more about the character of this team, but were not "complete" games where the team was firing on all cylinders.

I would say that our game against Mizzou probably said more about Mizzou's character than anything else. Mizzou is a damn good team, and I think Ole Miss is too. Just ran into a buzzsaw.

UGA looked sluggish, tired not interested in the first half against Mizzu. Even the environment felt down. Last Saturday night, it felt like a big game atmosphere.

And this was the first game it looked like we just laid down and admitted we were defeated early in the 3rd quarter.

We didn't even touch Beck the entire game. We sacked Milroe 5+ times.

May see A&M actually hire a search firm for the first time ever.

Both Jimbo and Lane Kiffin are Jimmy Sexton clients. Jimmy has worked vacancies and rumors to secure better contracts for his coaches. I don’t think they fall for it this time. TAMU has a 75 million dollar Sexton contract hangover.

I agree it’s a done deal with someone. I think Elko is leader in clubhouse.

Yeah I think Lane has played that card too many times in Oxford. I think at this point, if he tried it, we would say "bye".

The 3 names AD Keith Carter targeted when we had the opening was Drink, Lane and Norvell. I think AD KC has a idea of what he is looking for.

Lane sounds like he wants the A&M job just the same as Urban wants/wanted the Texas job.

For LSU and Brian Kelly the time to make the move was when ND was eliminated from the playoff race

but the calls had already been made behind the scenes

Kiffin has already been contacted

The Aggie program that has never won anything, hires a head coach that has never won anything, while at the same time Kiffin leaves Ole Miss because they will never win the SEC and goes to a program that has never won the SEC West.

Please make this happen.

Can you imagine Lane and that AD working together? Lane fitting into that culture?

Not a good fit, imho.
