Thompson's departure will mark the end of his third stint at the Capstone, previously coaching under former Tide coach Mike DuBose before two stints under Nick Saban (2007-8; 2012-14).
Thompson is currently the nation's fifth-ranked recruiter per 247Sports and was instrumental in securing commitments from current Tide pledges/signees Ronnie Harrison, Dallas Warmack and Richie Petitbon. Thompson was widely considered the national recruiter of the year when Alabama claimed the top-ranked recruiting class in the country in 2008 behind the strength of landing stars Julio Jones, B.J. Scott and Mark Barron from Mobile.
Thompson's exit marks the Tide's second coaching departure this week with inside linebacker's coach Kevin Steele leaving Tuscaloosa to accept Les Miles' opening for a defensive coordinator at LSU.

Wait about 2 days to see who Saban hires in his place before you jump to tDecline talk. Remember, you just hired Bama's inside linebacker coach to be your DC.
One thing that has always been true about Saban, when someone leaves, he moves quickly on their replacement. He never seems caught off guard by staff exits.

Wait.. Bama had a LB coach AND an outside LB coach? And we just want to have a DL, LB and DB , DC coach but cant???

Great recruiter. Pretty decent LB coach. Left Tuscaloosa for Tennessee and Kiffin's staff several years ago when his then wife uncovered his affair with a student and said "we're leaving this town or I'm leaving you" (or so the word in T-town was at the time). They later got divorced, I believe.

Eh, not the board for that kind of stuff.
And I also disagree with the statement. I don't think anyone is claiming any LB's coach is a rock star with universal renown, but he's not unknown either.

So I guess we can now officially say that Brick Haley has also been in contact with Alabama to replace Thompson. This was the third school mentioned who recently contacted Haley from what I've heard.
