Stoops to Notre Dame.

If not Stoops, then loser of the SEC Championship game.

I can see why Stoops might make the move to ND but no way in hell Saban or Myer go there IMO.

I can't figure out a sensible candidate for ND if they want a guy who has built and sustained success at a Division 1 program and has a defensive background. There some obvious "candidates" that are non-starters. Anyone that they could likely get is a gamble. There doesn't seem to be any sure thing.

Urban has stated his desire to coach at ND at some point in his career.

IMO, after 3 NCs at UF, what else is there to do? The question is, would ND allow him to finish out at UF this year...and would UF allow it?

That said, I don't see it happening.

Weiss
Willingham
(O'Leary)
Davie

ND sure doesn't have a recent track record of hiring guys that have built and sustained success @ a D1 program.

That said, they really do need a defense oriented coach at this point.

If I were ND I'd be making a run at TCU's coach.

Nope

ND is not the job it was in the past.

That was before he accepted the UF job and he picked that one over ND.

Assuming he gets his 3rd NC this year, win a few more.

My guess is that it would be in both parties' best interest to let him finish out the year if in fact he let it be known that he'd be ND's coach next year.

Pretty sure he has reference it since being at UF...similar to Miles and Michigan.

Possibly, or say "you're welcome UF" as you cash in and return "home". Just saying its a possibility, but as I said, not a probability.

I agree, I don't see Meyer taking the Notre Dame job. It appears that ship sailed in 2005.

Saban and Stoops are a different story, though. I fully expect one of those two to be Notre Dame's next head coach. That said, if Bama beats Florida, you can scratch Saban off for Notre Dame, because there's no way it'll happen if he's playing in the national title game this year.

I would give my left nut to see Saban take the gig. Not because I am a Sabanite or scared to go against him year in and year out in the SEC, but simply because I want to see the Bama meltdown.

Okay, I'll say it: I would love to see Saban leave for Notre Dame so we can have the SEC West back. There.

I honestly don't care if he's in the SEC, he's beatable....I just don't think Miles is the guy to do it with any consistency.

Then you have not seen his contract. He has some beautiful retention bonuses.

The only reason people are talking about Stoops leaving is that his good friend, the AD, is in the running for the UM HC job. Now, if RR doesn't improve, wouldn't it make more sense, if Stoops were going to leave, that he'd wait a year?

Stoops retires in Norman.

I agree. I just can't see why Meyer or Saban would take a step down to coach ND. It isn't like Bama or UF would not match anything ND comes with anyway.

Neither Meyer, Stoops or Saban will take that Job...Brian Kelly is playing it off for a while till the bowl game is done...he is there best option....but it wouldnt surprise me to see the Guy from Nortwestern take it either...
