Aside from some 4th down gambles. Napier leaves a lot to be desired as a play caller

That sentiment got us Zero as a HC in 2016. It didn't save us any money though.

Totally agree. A player I coach who’s headed to ULL said Napier called him yesterday and told him there was a strong possibility he was taking the TCU job and that if he did he wanted him to come with him. I would not think one would tell a recruit that unless he already decided he was taking the job. If he did say that and it’s not concrete it would be very unwise on Napier’s part in my opinion.

I totally agree with ibleedprplngld . Napier will do extremely well . REALLY wants the job , will work his fanny off , can run an organization . You have the guy in your own back yard . Tier one established P5 guys don’t rock the boat and move ( unless to use the interest for a pay raise ! ) So , please , it is not a reflection on LSU . LSU job is the pinnacle of football in the most competitive league . It is not a job for everybody .

Aranda may want to be the big fish in the pond now that Tx and OK are moving . Tucker is a one shot wonder using us for more money from his daddy warbucks booster billionaire . The guy that has proven he can build a program and has been a part of winning staffs … is in Lafayette … our back yard . Checks every box . Sorry he isn’t asking for 11.7 million per year . So , give him a three year deal . see what he can do . He sure as hell can recruit !

Has any major college coach announced in the middle or late in a season he accepted another college job?

I can't remember any.

How do we know SW doesn’t already have his guy signed? With the insiders and both local and national media guys throwing all these names around, it means no one knows jack shite.

It’d be hilarious to me if if comes out when the dust settles that SW had his guy signed all along while this board and others were all pitching hissy fits over each day’s coaching flavor du jour.

Perfect attitude towards the most important decision of an AD's entire career. Just trade all your draft picks and select Ricky Williams. Let's just get this over.

That should turn out well.

Been saying this for a while. I'm guessing the price tag on the buyout plus new contracts etc is going to be somewhere north of $70MM total. The kind of people who control this kind of money don't turn it over on a hope and prayer. "Don't worry, I'll get the guy" is not going to sit well when asking for that level of a commitment. Further, think about the timing of the announcement. Why then? Doesn't make any sense. My suspicion (and what the hell do I know?), is the deal was done by the Florida game or shortly after. It's just been noise since that time.

Just a few more weeks and we will know.

Why do people keep saying this? TCU really isn't a very good job. I don't see why he would actually move if his choices are TCU or ULL. If he's not LSU's headcoach I see VA Tech being most likely. Maybe Washington, but with how fast they dropped Lake I have a feeling they won't accept a G5 coach.
