Surely, LSU can do better than Bo Pelini.

I remember when people said that about Orgeron.

Good times.

Thanks for those - that certainly does help paint a better picture of Bo. I was sincere when I asked people to correct me if I was wrong.

Why would someone even question O at this time?

Maybe Bo knew what the play was and decided it was a terrible idea??

Maybe he didn't want to make it a mockery or a bigger deal than people questioning why he didn't let a fan call a play all these years later. Or maybe it was just a joke and the fan got to experience and access that most do not.

Either way, he is not here to run fan experiences. Can he coach a talented defensive group of young men?

you're wrong on this. this is the second time you posted it and i care even less this time about some nerd who got a sad that he didn't get to call a play. i mean i'm not even sure he was sad - that was just the author thinking he was sad and even then WHO CARES!

Pelini would probably be just fine. He wouldn't be elite, but he'd be pretty good.

LSU's defenses were dominant in his time here. I'd say it's elite.

Pelini as a DC would be elite. The guy hasnt been out of football. As a HC he has been exposed to the offensive trends in the game today. Will Muschamp, Todd Grantham, or Kevin Steele would be considered homerun hires and theyve been doing this as long (or longer) than bo.

Because it’s the most egregious of many questionable actions by Pelini.

We can’t start disqualifying coaches because they don’t have the personality of Mr. Rogers 100% of the time. I’ve read a few places that O knows him personally, so I trust he is either a good fit, or O will cut bait quickly. I’m not really concerned about his coaching chops. No reasonable person should be.

Don’t know if Bo is a good guy or bad guy, but I won’t be judging him based on this.

Quite frankly, the only thing I’ll be judging him on is how LSU’s defense performs under his leadership.

I understand Bo has a few “black eyes” on his personality (one of which you posted here), but make no mistake ... Bo Pelini is widely-regarded as a very capable College DC. I hope he does well at LSU, and think it’s a good hire. Not necessarily a great hire, but a good solid hire.

Would you say “No thanks” to Todd Grantham because he made the throat-slash sign to a player?

There was a coach at LSU in 2011 that didn’t let his OC call plays in the natty.

exactly. you know youre getting a very good DC with the ability to put together a great season.

With elite talent at LSU, Pelini had higher ranked Defenses than Aranda ever had. Just saying.

and as SOON as he left, 2008 happened

Nebraska lost that game 19-7 too, to add context

Imagine being down by 12 in the forth and Bo radioing in that we need to get the Navy mans play so he can honor his word so that MontanaTiger will respect him

i was just imagining me calling a play for Aranda's defense in the Fiesta bowl last year.

and then getting torched for a TD.
