The same guy that talked crap about the Head Coach via social media when we were considering hiring him? Really?

Ridiculous

It’s not that easy. Only on the field coaches are allowed to go off campus to recruit. So unless Lane gives Mathieu an in the field position he can’t be the recruiting coordinator.

I swear some of these people are clueless. I feel like they don't understand the current state of football. You might need a 'hardcore' recruiter with Group teams but at a school like LSU its mostly about NIL and playing time.

I’m going to assume you’re joking.

But maybe Honey Badger as special teams coordinator if Joe Houston doesn’t work out?

No disrespect to TM7, but what makes you so sure he could do all the tasks associated with recruiting? I absolutely think there is a role for him somewhere on staff.

Doesn’t he have to have a Masters to be able to be hired at a college level coaching position. Which would mean he’d have to have his bachelors.

I’m not sure, but has he ever gone back to school? He can’t have much more than sophomore level credits?

I’m not busting his balls either way. It’s just a far fetched dream for some if these are in fact the requirements.

Hence why you are a grad assistant when you’re done playing and not directly tied into a full time spot due to you getting your masters.

I’ve never heard of having to have a masters to coach in college.

If he wants to get into coaching (which I think he has said before), the better path is to make him a defensive analyst and have him work with Raymond. You can’t have a better mentor for coaching DBs than him.

He would still be able to help in recruiting when kids are on campus, as well. His name will carry weight with LA HS kids, even if it’s not quite as much as in the past before NIL.

This is not true anymore. Any staffer can recruit off campus as long as they are one of 10 designated by the head coach to do so.

Semantics. That’s generally how we think about this. It’s still pretty rare that a true “on-field coach” isn’t one of those 10.

The bigger shift is that analysts can directly coach players without the restrictions they used to exist for them.

Would he be able to go into your home and convince your mom and grandma to send your son to LSU?

It's incredibly common now. All of these schools with GMs aren't hiring somebody who has a job that revolves around roster building and not allowing them to recruit off campus

I like the idea of hiring TM7 to the staff then maybe one day elevate him to the position that Frank had while being a DB coach. They should hire him as an assistant to Raymond/Baker to help with DBs and get his feet wet into the recruiting dynamic. Slowly elevate his role heading up the totem pole.

He also said immediately after the hire that he'd be in BR within the hour the second CLK called to ask him to join the staff.
