More stable? Bobby Lowder says hello.

Better administrators? Your school almost lost your freaking academic ACCREDITATION years ago due to incompetence, something my alma mater never remotely approached.

Better school? Says who, you? LSU grads, particularly those in engineering like me, are some of the most sought-after public university grads anywhere.

The rest of your blather isn’t worth commenting on.

Said he wanted to hire someone right after the Iron Bowl but didn’t guarantee it. Sumrall would not surprise me but it may be someone not available yet.

LSU FOOTBALL is the best job, and you know damn well it is. You are bringing up all sorts of crap that whether true or not will not be on the mind of a coach wanting to win a national championship.
congrats

you should have no trouble getting whomever is your top choice then, amirite

Perfect hire for a mid SEC program.

If he does well he’ll bolt to an elite program, but that would mean great things happened at Auburn so who knows

If what had happened at Ole Miss hadn’t happened at Ole Miss, Freeze might still be there. He sure as hell wouldn’t have gone to Auburn.

They have stolen an Ole Miss coach before but I’m not sure anyone would leave Ole Miss for Auburn now. I was just saying they have hired previous P4 coaches.

Why does everyone from Auburn and Alabama think Baton Rouge and Louisiana is such a bad place? Have you ever lived there?

I lived close enough on the coast of Mississippi. Louisiana is not somewhere I would want to live. If you like it there, that’s great. To be fair to Louisiana, I wouldn’t want to live on any of the coasts.

Ehhh....I think they know Tulane is a stepping stone job.

Ehhh. Sumrall hasn't 'killed it' at Tulane as we thought. I have been ok with him leaving because he hasn't proven to be a great coach.....good....but not great.

We were able to hire two good coaches and we feel confident enough that the job is attractive enough to hire another good coach.

I for one don't mind being considered a 'stepping stone' program because if other schools aren't interested in your coach/ coaches then it means that you aren't successful.

Living close enough is not the same as having lived there.
If you haven’t lived in both places then your opinion carries no value.

The last time John Cohen made definitive statements about his coaching hires, he ended up hiring like the 10th best option after he got turned down by others.

Good luck Auburn! You'll need it.

I think most would get on board. I wouldn't support a "go get Sumrall" approach, but if he's in the final 3-4 and is the best fit for our circumstances, it's fine.

Pros: He might be the most widely praised candidate among media/coaches in this cycle, his teams are pretty good, offers toughness AU craves after too many offensive guru coaches.

Cons: Performances are merely good, not elite, and at schools that others win at. No great tutelage under a good coaching tree. Recent G5 thuds for the "it" hires.
