If Joe Schad says that, NONE of them will sign. You can eliminate the top 3 right off the bat. Wrong skin color.

There is enough smoke around Swinney claiming he is dirty for Texas not to go there.

I put that in the Babblefish translator and it came out potato.

What exactly are you trying to say?

David Shaw is who I would have wanted at Alabama if Saban had left for Texas!

David Shaw is not taking another college job..

Their #1 target should be Art Briles. He knows Texas recruiting (big deal), has won in the Big XII at a much harder place to win and picking him up would destroy what has emerged as one of their major conference opponents. Two birds.

It seems a lot of people don't understand contract extensions. Signing one in no way precludes a coach from up and leaving. Still baffles me when people say "x coach signed an extension so he can't leave". Every contract can be broken.

The only realistic hires on that list are Strong and Franklin.

David Shaw is the best choice. He is cool headed and very strong in fundamentals.

Another point I was wondering about is when it kicks in... Dec 31??? Maybe a stalling tactic but I dont really believe that.

That said, I think he wants to stay at Baylor but who knows

Will be interesting- Briles has made Baylor a threat and can stay there forever; if he goes to Texas, the pressure/challenge really starts, and if not successful, he will be back in 3-4 years at a small time program unlikely to move up again.

Briles is the one guy I hope they don't get. He is a guaranteed success there.

I think you said it best in another part of this thread- folks don't know how things 'work' in Texas issues like this...

Franklin doesn't know Texas recruiting at all. I'd love for them to hire him

He didn't know SEC recruiting either. I think he would be a great hire. He is not a big name, but I think he would be very successful.

James Franklin would dominate at Texas.
