He believes Texas's top targets are, in no particular order:

David Shaw (Stanford)
James Franklin (Vanderbilt)
Charlie Strong (Louisville)
Mark Dantonio (Michigan State)
Dabo Swinney (Clemson)
Jim Mora Jr. (UCLA)
Gus Malzahn (Auburn)
Jimbo Fisher (FSU)

I would narrow it down to three.

Mark Dantonio
Charlie Strong
David Shaw

Seems like a reasonable list. I would love to see Dabo at Texas, especially after all of the Saban rumors.

There is enough smoke around Swinney claiming he is dirty for Texas not to go there.

They will not hire an Aggie.

Signed an extension after last season's Sugar Bowl.

Mark Dantonio (Michigan State)

Would be a good hire but with his health issues, I don't see it happening.

Dabo Swinney (Clemson)

Interesting. Could be.

Jim Mora Jr. (UCLA)
Gus Malzahn (Auburn)

Both signed extensions this year, just a couple weeks ago. Not going anywhere.

Jimbo Fisher (FSU)

Can't seem him leaving FSU after getting them to the BCSNG for the first time since Bowden. The same could be said for Malzahn, even if he hadn't signed his extension.

I can't see Shaw leaving or Franklin, although Franklin is young and has done well at Vandy.

If Franklin gets the offer, he would be insane not to take it on the spot.

I agree but I'd be surprised if they offered him. But stranger things have happened.

I think the rape case is the only thing holding Franklin back. He is a perfect fit IMO

Isn't this the same fricktard that said there is no way Saban leaves Miami?

It'd be interesting to see what Franklin could do with that much talent

Yeah, he would be a real C-list candidate, much like Dabo. However, he might actually be good, unlike Dabo.

Dantonio's health is a big issue, just like you said. And I don't see why Malzahn or Jimbo would leave their jobs.

I could certainly see Strong leave Louisville, and Texas should take care of whatever buyout he has. Mora seems like another C-list hire since he hasn't been super successful at UCLA, even with the dumpster fire at USC.

Franklin doesn't know Texas recruiting at all. I'd love for them to hire him.

Completely agree. My only thing about him going there would be his recruiting but I guess he'd pick it up.

He really has done well at Vandy.

I don't think Texas can hire him this year. I've read part of Patterson's buyout with ASU stated he couldn't hire any coach or employee from ASU for one year.

Look at how Saban recruits. Every year someone claims to know that he paid for a recruit - Landon Collins, Cam Robinson, Cyrus K (not gonna try to spell it), Yeldon. The list goes on.

Either Texas doesn't care about the smoke around Saban, or that's all it is - smoke.
