But I will definitively be labeling next season as a "transition period" and drastically lower my expectations.

This is the thing I don't get. This will be such an unpopular move that if it doesn't work IMMEDIATELY, the noose is going to start getting tight around O's neck and he might not even make it to year 3.

If he brings in a high profile outsider, the fanbase gets excited, he wins some people back and there's a definite honeymoon period. If the offense starts slow, then the "transition" narrative might have some merit.

But I just can't see them getting any leeway for a sow start if it's Ensminger. He's been on staff for a while, he knows the personnel and they know him. It's gotta be spectacular right off the bat.

This is it for Orgeron. Canada was his one mulligan. He's not getting another one. If he picks Ensminger, then it's because Orgeron really believes Ensminger is going to kill it.

The only way this makes any sense, is if it's Ensminger plus a young stud OC in waiting kind of guy that you need to offer upper 6 figures to land.

Then if Sullivan is made full time...who is doing the recruiting? Meatball and Raymond going to carry the entire load?

I’d throw Robinson in but that guy hasn’t done anything of note here yet

Fine with me, just means Aranda will be named Head Coach sooner than expected.

I would't call Sullivan an "up an coming stud OC in waiting" type. Sullivan/Ensminger is not a scenario where it makes any sense to pay Ensminger $1+ million. But, if it's Ensminger and a 30 something boy wonder type that they've identified (say someone like Briles circa 2011) it does. Say that have to pay the young guy $800k then Ensminger should probably make more than that.

Ensminger is a very good recruiter. Jury is still out on Robinson. He was the PAC 12 recruiter of the year last year, so he's obviously got some chops.

That is literally doing what we did with O. “Hey no one is bidding for your services at all. Here’s 4million + a buy out...because frick it why not?”

Keep the end goal in mind. More dumb shite moves like this from O and he's gone after next season.

And that's where I was thinking possibly Gilbert. When his name popped up I thought he's 39 and has been at the college ranks since 2012 which is still relatively new. Maybe he comes on board with Ensminger as a co-OC.

the bottom would have to fall out. And the bottom ain't falling out with Aranda + Fehoko, Lawrence, Rougarou, White in the front 7, and Greedy, Delpit, Surtain in the back end.

Idk how many Jimmy Details gut predictions I've seen in the last 2-3 months that have been pure trash.

Jimmy gut is 99.9% wrong 99.9% of the time.

And wth is up with The Advocates obsession with slideshows? Is that what they think journalism is?

Pretty much our only hope as fans at this point.

That is the nature of click-based revenue in the 21st century. People stopped buying newspapers, so the companies have to do stuff like this to fund the operation. It's the nature of the beast.

No way. The double-edged sword is that Alleva saved the future of the program and his own arse by locking up Aranda. Aside from minor assistant coaches, the only buyout would be 0, which will be much less after next season. If he loses 4-5 games again, which I completely expect, he's gone. They can't risk not hitting a home run with the 2019 signing class.

I will make any bet you want that if LSU loses four regular season games next year that Orgeron would not be fired.

Name it.

For my sanity I'm just going to continue to tell myself there's no way we settle for Ensminger.
