He has had 1 year worthy of that “floor” at a&m.

He took a 7-6 team and went 9-4. Then EdO had his year, while Jimbo lost 5 games to mostly Top 5 opponents. He should have made the CFP in his 3rd year, but Notre Dame bias was in effect. And this year he is still in the SECw hunt.

That's better than anything Tucker, Franklin, Fleck, Napier, Aranda, Kiffin, etc. has done.

Crap? They are elated in Aggieland with what Jimbo has done and what the future will bring with his coaching and recruiting

A lot of people in this thread are focusing on past seasons and not looking forward and realizing that Jimbo is about to go on a big time run at A&M

He’s getting elite recruits at QB, oline, and dline.

I agree with you but if it comes down to Jimbo, who you know will make the program at least respectable again, or a complete dice roll, it’s understandable why some would want him.

What is the difference between the A&M Jimbo took over vs the LSU Nick took over ?

LSU has no in-state rivals to compete for recruits against, A&M splits 50/50 between Texas most years, and recently has had to compete against TCU and SMU for recruits.

SMU has had more recent success than A&M, and they were hit with the Death Penalty. Think about that. You can't pin A&M's underwhelming existence on Jimbo.

If 115-35 as a HC is settling sign me up.

Since taking over at aTm, he's barely over .700 winning percentage. Is 26-10 worth $12MM/yr?

And he left FSU in complete shambles on his way out. He took over for Bowden, won a natty with Bowden players, and then abruptly absconded for aTm and FSU still hasn't recovered from how badly he fricked them over.

But what do I know? Just continue the Jimbo orgasming on here.

Where did jimbo touch y’all losers. He’s a good coach. He made Faggie relevant… he would be awesome here

Dang I fall asleep early and wake up to jimbo threads. I’ve never thought jimbo was a serious candidate in this search and I don’t believe it now. Just smoke from some LSU people that are probably still stuck on him.

And I see no reason for jimbo to leave unless he really just wants to work for Scott again.

This hire will most likely come from the Tucker, Napier, aranda pool…not gonna waste my melt energy on jimbo. BoB is the only guy I’m worried about.

Yep, Jimbo is Les Miles and Ed Orgeron 2.0 no question about it. He built a championship and then relaxed.

If we took literally any other coach and told the Rantards:

He’s 26-10 as a coach

Never made a playoff let alone a natty

Most observers consider his side of the ball expertise, offense, to be extremely extremely outdated.

We are going to pay him 10/120 million

They would fricking FREAK.

But because he coached here and won a NC in a different era at a different school with an all time college qB 8 years ago, they want him.

Name me the list of active college coaches with 12 years of Power 5 experience, 115 wins, and a national title?

1. Saban
2. Swinney
3. Jimbo
4. Crickets…

Mighty short list.

The only sales pitch of Jimbo is that we should have a decent floor. That's it. Our ceiling is severely capped and we will have no leeway to change directions once we sign him to a TAMU-like contract (you think $17M is a lot? That's less than 2 seasons of what we're about to pay Jimbo).

While you have a picture of O fir your avatar…. Hmmm. No bias there…

Jimbo would win bigger at LSU than A&M. Texas high school football is overrated. A&M's soft culture and ineptitude is difficult to overcome, and he has done terrific over there. You're crazy, if you don't want him.

OK. Its OK to admit LSU had crap for leaders and decision makers.

At what point in time has this board had a problem doing that?

Jimbo is a very average hire that won't ruffle feathers mow or 3 years from now.

It's easy for us to clamor for someone like Aranda even while having no idea if he would be a good hire. If my job is on the line I would probably be a but more cautious.

P.s. I'm in no way excited about jimbo, just saying I get it from the admins perspective

Melted in 15 when Jindal and F King interfered

Then melted in 16 when it wasn’t him or Herman

Now if it is him I don’t really feel anything. Growing up sucks

This is how I feel. He used to be my dream candidate, now I’m over him.

Other than Kiffin, they're all just starting out.

Aranda: 45 years old. 2 years HC experience in a BCS conference.
Napier: 42 yeas old. 4 years HC experience in FBS.
Fleck: 40 years old. Minny has a defined ceiling

Even Tucker, who has had a long road to CFB HC, is still only 49.

And all of these coaches have made as many playoffs as Jimbo has since 2015.

This only makes sense if you're a low expectations having MFer who is also a massive pussy. The type who irrationally thinks that if we don't pick a stabilizing force like Jimbo we may crater as a program entirely. It's insanity.

TX has like 4.5x the population. So they're splitting "50/50" with a MUCH larger player pool.
