Just because it’s being determined to be “meaningless,” doesn’t take away the fact that he’s called plays. And I’m sure he wasn’t just a prop stand on the NFL sidelines.

My guess is he knows how to run a defense. We will see if he makes the right calls.

Scone man just said O spent the day with him today, which is a step up from Canada, who they hired without meeting, and pelini, who ed apparently didnt interview. Sounds like ed just hates the process of hiring coaches.

Staff needed to get younger and hungrier. O certainly accomplished those two things with his coordinator picks.

If Jones can get the defense to buy in, he’ll be better than Pelini.

I’m so sick of letting this retard repeatedly make bad hires and run this program into the ground. This is going to be, yet again, a bad hire.

So the real question is this a better hire as a potential DC than Raymond?

If you swapped their titles right now, would there be more or less gnashing of the teeths and preaching of the impending doom of LSU football as we know it?

I didn’t even realize that he wrote flip the script.

Aranda probably recommended this guy to punk Coach O for throwing shade at him last year when he left

So I have serious questions as to why this guy never got consideration for DC if he was so good and just flip flopped around with his secondary being absolute shite. There's nothing to like about this hire and nothing suggests he's good. This makes no sense when you have a lot of good young DCs in college who have called it at much higher level than this guy. LSU must've struck out of everyone they talked to for them to go down to get this guy. He has to be a bottom of the list guy. They better not paying this dude Pellini's money otherwise I'll flip. For that money you couldn't get someone better?

In addition to Aranda possibly making this recommendation, our lead defensive analyst in 2019, Roy Anderson, was also in Minnesota this year with Jones.

Just something else to consider

Reaching for something positive if this dude is hired is like a Stockholm victim trying to convince themselves their abuser is a good person.

Can he turn out good? Sure. But looking at his bio nothing is impressive about him at all and don't compare him to Peetz either because that's a completely different situation where you can see he had high respect.

The only positive for him is he coached a high level defense basically at the HS level( ). He moved around a lot, nobody really considered him a DC, and his secondaries in the NFL were not good regardless of what situation he was in. You need to see viable improvement there from a young guy to see his impacts. Peetz has that at many stops you can see he had an impact on the offense. This would be a terrible hire unless O wants a yes man so he can run his own defense. If that's the case we're fricked.

I hope they block this hire. If I was a big money booster I would not sign off on this.

I know the guy. Lets just say he wouldnt be coaching in the NFL if he were a plug. Give him a chance. He is young and I think the players will get behind him. I also was a Corey Raymond fan, but he must not want the position. Im sure if he did Orgeron would have asked him. Im onboard for Jones. See what he can do.

While this is disappointing honestly this guy could be really good. I think it's a bit of a wildcard based on what we know.

The fact is 2 extraordinary candidates turned LSU down.

What exactly tells you this guy would be really good?

Aranda didn’t even choose him to run his own D at Baylor. Every other staff in America just seemed to not know about this Diamond in the North.

I find the whole circumstance of this process and hire is absolutely absurd, all the way around.

If he turns out to be good, great, but there is absolutely no indicators on his resume or career arc that tells you this guy should get a shot as DC of a Top 10 program.

It’s frankly a lazy, give up hire.
