Who cares. Getting the right hire is far more important than getting a quick hire.

Brian Kelly said you don’t know what you’re talking about.

As far as assistants go, coach Kelly will be successful here so trust in him to make great hires.

This is not Coach O are dealing with anymore. This guy is not calling Pete Carroll up for advice or hiring someone without ever interviewing them. He has plenty of leeway to be successful here and he will build it the right way.

Location isn't all that relevant for these college coaches. They spending all of their waking hours at the football ops facility.

Except they have families that don’t spend all their waking hours at th football ops. With all the huge salaries where the great coaches are already at, a few hundred thousand isn’t as much as it used to be, and quality of life and not having to uproot your family from what may be a very comfortable situation is going to play a factor occasionally.

I have no idea if this played a factor with White. I have no idea if he was offered, if he and Kelly met and weren’t aligned, I have no idea if he even actually came to Baton Rouge. Or brought his wife. But it is possible they got here, realized it was 80 degrees and humid a week before Christmas Eve, and said “ya know, I think we’re good.” (To themselves, not Kelly or Woodward.

Let’s face it, we love this place, but it’s not for everybody, especially the climate. If you’re not from the south. That won’t matter to most coaches—and I’m certainly not saying it’s happened here, and I don’t think BK is actually having any trouble hiring candidates—I love the fact that he’s taking his time to make the best hires rather than the quickest.

However, we’d be foolish to think that quality of life isn’t becoming more of a factor for these coaches’ decisions. Moving sucks. Moms and kids leave their friends, kids leave their schools mid-year, leave their neighborhoods, their churches, and just the hassle of moving houses. And I think we overlook how grandparents (of coaches’ kids)—especially the maternal set—may play a role if they’re geographically close. Now, most families know the deal and what they’re getting into when they choose this life. And this is not about LSU or Baton Rouge specifically, but with the money being so huge for assistants now, throwing an extra couple hundred thousand at a coordinator isn’t gonna make for an easy poach like it used to. You offer somebody making $500k, $1 million, and they’re on their way site unseen. But you offer somebody already making $1.5 million, $2 million, it’s not quite as impactful and other factors start playing bigger roles.

You guys need to face the hard truth. LSU football has taken a hit over the last two years, perception and on field. The last two years haven't been good for you. Orgeron left you a mess. You are going to suffer until or if Kelly can turn it around on the field with wins. It's that simple. The potential/history is still there.

So……why did the winningest coach in notre dame history leave nd for lsu then?

$$$$$ and the potential to get talent that he could not at Notre Dame. He will turn it around but you have to admit the last two years have been a cluster.

You are the one lying to yourself or at least projecting your beliefs.

Whether BR is a “shithole” or not is irrelevant It’s also relative. It’s is not literally 100% “shite hole” and it’s also not worse than most other college towns. If the city was that important than Texas/Miami/UCLA would have the best coaches. The coordinators will make well over $1M so they are not affected by bad neighborhoods and will send their kids to private schools.

As for the politics half the country disagrees with you no matter what side you’re on

As for the football team it’s not as bad as you think, the idea that coaches wouldn’t come because of it is laughable, if that was the case someone if Kelly’s stature would never have taken the job

Issue is moving to Baton Rouge. It’s like a damn third world country.

What you are saying maybe could apply to some individual cases but overall it’s it not why LSU doesn’t have new coordinators yet. I don’t see a trend of more and more coaches just staying where they are because they are tired of up rooting their families. The crisis here is all in the minds of rantards wanting an answer NOW!! If we don’t have coordinators by mid January I’ll start to worry a little bit for now it’s not really a big deal and I guarantee ro it’s not because no one wants to move to BR

What horse shite, you guys should get out more. Every where has shitty parts/crime/problems

ETA and it’s not about defending Baton Rouge because I love it, I don’t live there and haven’t for a long time but I promise you no coach worth his salt is saying no way would I move to BR because it’s “shite hole” and their politics sucks : lol:

If it’s BK then how come he’s hired nothing but very good to elite coordinators since he been at ND?

Hell even Cincinnati.

Do a little research and you’ll find that the problem isn’t BK

jesus, its only been 2 weeks, and most likely the reason you arent seeing any action is maybe the OC and DC he wants are currently in the playoffs so that must settle out first

BK has a history of concerning himself more with getting the right people in place rather then worrying about headlines and fan concerns

We could've had a full staff 48 hours after BK got here if we wanted. He's not rushing this because he wants certain guys in place.

I know we're used to a HC that doesn't carefully consider his staff and make decisions based on his own assessments so it's an adjustment phase for all of us.

Not everywhere is as bad as Baton Rouge top to bottom. There is no silver lining. The entire city is a third world country riddled with felony crime(murder and disease rates are on par with Chicago) , the worst traffic in America, and a huge natural disaster after natural disaster just to add salt to the wounds every 3-4 years. Just to add to the man-made disasters that plague BR on a regular basis.

I would take living in any mid sized city below the mason dixon line over moving into BR, any day of the week!
