Assistants want to follow him.

ETA: i love the hire FYI

How many assistants followed Nick Saban here?

Well Notre Dame is an interesting set of circumstances with them promoting the DC to HC and the OC an alum
Freeman to HC kind of makes it difficult to grab any of their assistants, unless for some reason someone on that staff doesn’t want to work under Freeman

Asking assistants to move to LA is a lot easier than asking them to move to Baton Rouge

Same happened with Saban. That’s what started to worry me after we hired Saban.

I think that I remember the same thing happening when Saban left Michigan State.

NO!
ND is desperately trying to keep their coaching staff intact.
Michigan State did the exact same thing when Saban was hired. None of Saban’s assistants followed him to LSU. What did Saban do? Put together one of the greatest staffs ever. Most went on to become head coaches. I have complete faith Kelly will too.

The true OU loyal coaches stayed behind
Bedenbaugh ain’t following him
Neither is demarco Murray

The OC is a former ND QB whose dad works at the school as well
The DC is about to be named HC at ND
Which one of those two would you reasonably expect to follow Brian Kelly to LSU?

I do not want any of his assistants except Freeman, and he ain't coming. Need to get a new staff together and retain the good ones we have.

Asking people with young families to move to Baton Rouge is a tough sell…

I’m glad Rees isn’t coming honestly.

People acting like Tommy Rees didn’t play at Notre Dame. He’s probably a lifer until he’s head coach one day.

None of Miles assistants followed him. Hell, LSU kept its coordinators when Miles came in.
I don't see this as a big deal at all if he can bring in good coordinators. Freeman was likely going to end up somewhere as an HC anyway, and Rees probably wasn't leaving his Alma mater.
