Before he gives Auburn an answer.

Pruitt will be 3-7 and this may be the only year Tennessee can snag Freeze.

From a personal standpoint, he is desperate enough for either.

Sexton is probably telling him what is possible and what is not at this stage.

Cristobal seems to have been our only target so far

So did he use you guys for a raise and the admins back up plan was to promote Steele? More heads than just Gus need to roll if so.

Not an impressive list for Auburn and should have kept Gus for another year.

Auburn is a much better job minus having to play alabama

Tenn would probably pay more and it would be cool to see him turn them around

Pretty sure the whole reason for the cross divisional mess in the SEC is so Tennessee and Bama could play each year

Freeze is much more popular in the peanut gallery and internet fan universe than he is inside walls of university administrations.

He is a polarizing figure and not overly high on Auburn’s list.

I think there's a real chance for UT, but agreed 100%. Haven't seen him listed as a real candidate once from Auburn reporters and people acted like it was just a given he was taking the job.

How does the OP even know that Freeze's phone is ringing about an SEC HC job?

Why would one hold out for Tennessee over Auburn?

Because contrary to popular belief, most ADs don't give a frick about his past except that he can beat Alabama and recruit at a high level.

Sure, Freeze has a penchant for hookers, dip, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Christian bro country, but he also has a penchant for wins and points, particularly over a guy by the name of Nick Saban

Freeze would really shake up SEC East and he would for sure get after Dan Mullen and Florida. Nashville area is putting out more SEC caliber recruits every year and he could pull from Memphis with his ties there (if he hasnt been banished from those high schools)

Fun fact: Freeze took his wife to Neyland Stadium after they were married and told her he would be a big time football coach one day. It would be full circle for him.

Freeze isn't holding out for shite. If any P5 job offers him he will run to it without a second's hesitation.

This is so so true. As fans all we see is his ability to recruit and coach football and of course we eat it up.

Administrators are far more worried about optics and baggage, and freeze doesn’t check the boxes there.
