The other is leaving a team that is definitely in the playoff and has expectations to win in it.
it is pretty much a recruiting dead period for the month of December (outside of the early signing period Dec 3-5).

there won't be much going on recruiting wise between the first round of playoffs and the quarterfinals...

It's doable...

I only say Ole Miss is not a lock because they could lost to State (not going to happen) and the Committee could dock them from the playoffs as 2 loss team who lost their head coach (which I very much disagree with).

However, I’m wrong here. The whole assumption is that Lane would coach the playoffs while being employed by LSU. So the committee can’t dock them for that.

That’s great. I wasn’t really talking about recruiting.

What are you asking? I said they are in two different situations and explained why, then you started talking about recruiting.

You didn't say much… All you said was one team doesn't expect to win their first playoff game and the other one thinks they can win their first playoff game.

What would Morris be doing in the last half of December that Lane couldn't do?

I agree with this. I’m saying I believe they would be a lock if Kiffin signed an extension, no matter the outcome of the game Friday.

I never claimed to have said much. I’m just explaining how the situations are different and why people would view what they are doing differently, that’s all.

My stance has been if LSU were to hire Indiana's coach, you let him finish the playoffs. Indiana isn't a rival or perennial threat. If they hire Kiffin, you want to weaken their chance of hanging a skin on their wall.

Yeah, but he’s obviously taking a step up.

Sure. Not sure Ole Miss loves the idea of that while they are trying to win a national championship…

Nothing is sacred nowadays. They will get killed if they make the playoff anyway.

100%. And I think both sides would have a good argument.

It’s amazing that sports and coaching seems to be the only profession where people get openly criticized for moving up the ladder.CEOs Managers,CPAs etc all get opportunities to upgrade all the time around this country and no one complains about them leaving fellow workers subordinates or clients behind. Not in college FB ,F you for taking a job you think is better for you and your family .F your family you need to stay here Even if you don’t want to because I’m in the media or I’m a fan and I deserve to make you miserable because It’s about what I want other people don’t matter.
