yeah this has the potential to really gut OU...I'd feel bad but most of their fans are dicks so I find it hilarious.
me too
they come in to the SEC and become Arky 2.0

No idea. It's all speculation. USC does not have to share the HC salaries (or any salaries) because it is a private institution.
idiots on here were parroting $15mm/yr which made me laugh
probably in the $8.5-10mm range
nice get for the Men of Troy, will make Sark after Dark more interesting again

I’d be worried about how well he can build a program. USC has been very meh since Carroll bolted for NFL.
Man... I know people don't want to hear it because we're in anti-LR mode now... but i would be absolutely shocked if Riley didn't have USC back in playoff contention within the next few years.
His reputation as an offensive coach and QB developer + the USC mystique + the lack of significant west-coast competition basically guarantees that they will become a recruiting juggernaut. All the mater dei kids that USC has missed out on are staying home, now.
Then, add to the soon-to-be very talented roster the fact that the pac 12 STINKS, and you are basically looking at 9-10 wins per year very soon. So long as he can coach em up at even just a decent rate, they're gonna be a top 10 mainstay for the intermediate future.
Basically, i foresee him creating a better version of oklahoma. I think oklahoma is pretty close to the floor for what he'll do with USC. EVEN IF the coaching is poor, he's gonna have talent coming out of his arse and very little competition.

If he wins a championship at SC, OU will hate him more than whoever is coaching Texas. At least Saban left LSU for a shot at the NFL.

Also remember that SC has been looking for a new coach since mid-September, so the feelers had been out for a while so if LR wasn't happy with OU, SC probably would have known some time ago.
This was a premeditated move that had been orchestrated probably at least two weeks ago, and probably started a long time before that.
so thats how its done then?

Agree with all that. Could very well be a year 1 playoff team after taking a quick glance at SC's upcoming schedule.

Conference championships are his ceiling. Any doubt left when he took Grinch and his S&C coach with him to USC. Two glaring issues Riley has had for awhile and could have fixed but is not doing it.

They'll be the favorites to win the PAC 12 next year.
And should be in the playoffs within a couple of years once they fix the lines

Lol those kinds of decisions are made way above Lincoln Riley.
What a tool.

This, you got a coach afraid of playing at the highest level. Ignored players on his team who had concerns and lied about leaving. He’ll do fine there in conference. But he’ll get his arse kicked in the playoffs just like he did for us. The PAC is the worse than the AAC and you paid him more than Saban makes. Also, have fun with a guy from Muleshoe Texas fitting in with the ultra woke crap in your state. He’ll regret his decision once he realizes he has to live 2 hours from campus so his house isn’t broken into every night. He would have left us for LSU if he wasn’t a pussy. But he is, fit in perfect in SoCal. We might get our arse kicked for awhile in the sec but at least we aren’t afraid to play.

One of my frat brothers was at a booster golf tournament for USC a couple of weeks ago that our AD Bohn played and spoke at. He texted me right after to tell me what Bohn said about our next HC.
Bohn told the room that our new coach was already in place, that it was a home run hire, and that everyone would be very pleased. That's it.
I've stated something similar in other posts in that with all the smoke and talk of Riley coming to LSU 2 weeks ago, and then it completely died down this past week. I thought that was really weird.
With Riley to USC, the silence no makes sense. LSU knew 2-3 weeks ago that they didn't have Riley. Now I think it is possible that LSU made an offer or were in serious discussion with Riley. When USC stepped up I think SW knew Riley wouldn't be choosing LSU.
This weekend didn't catch Woodward offguard, he knew this at least 2 weeks ago and either wrapped somebody else up or is very close.

This is just so wrong. Manhattan Beach is an awesome place to live, which is why houses cost $4mil and up there, and it's not 2 hours from campus. LA may be a crappy place to live for regular joes but you can live really well if you've got the cash.

Good stuff Porkchop. Thanks for sharing.
Riley will have USC rolling once he raids OU's best players through the portal.
I really wanted us to be the ones to cherry pick that roster.
I was also looking forward to a heated rivalry with OU after we stole Riley. Now we are scorned brethren, which sucks.
I just hope Woodward has an ace up his sleeve.

The lack of a hyper-interested fan base at USC played to its advantage in this deal. There is zero chance that an AD could have made a statement like that at LSU without the masses digging and figuring out who it was and exposing it.
Ironically, raising the interest and changing the culture at USC is probably the most important task for Riley if he’s going to compete with the top echelon schools.

So this means that the insiders on this board, TBL, Vol, and that other tigerbait guy, are actually secret agents for USC providing the smokescreen

Bottom. Line is that SW is looking like a fricking moron unless he has the same type if deal in place before initiating the O firing.

This statement only tells us you don't know much about Woodward
