I am curious as to which part of LA is LR going to move his family into?... His wife is in for a culture shock...

We don’t take kindly to outsiders that have access to insiders that never knew anything anyway.

yeah I think anyone that believes USC swooped in at the final hour and stole Lincoln doesn't get how this stuff works. This was in the works for a minute and Feldman knew it
Now the question really is, was LSU duped with Trace and Lincoln negotiating in bad faith or did LSU just allow themselves to be used to give themselves cover fire?
I actually listened to a Feldman podcast on a SC site last night, and it completely caught him off guard. He said he got the info from another colleague late Saturday and then sat on it.

I think this is pretty interesting, and it seems to line up with what we've learned the last three days. If true, it suggests not that Riley was afraid of the SEC, but that he was unwilling to make the move without what he considers critical support for the program.
The whole thing is unprecedented - a top P5 head coach to another P5 blue blood school with the transfer portal in effect and early signing day two weeks away.
Unfortunately for the OU players and fans, the program could be a mess for at least a year, possibly two.
There's an interesting counterfactual, also. What if Riley had waited until after ESD? He must have known that would be untenable for his reputation.
Other counterfactuals - what if OU had beaten OSU? Won the conference title game? Made the playoffs?

From my understanding, USC has a house for the HC and his family in Manhattan Beach. That is part of the deal. Unless he wants something else, he does not have to buy anything.

He will win enough at USC to keep everyone happy
Gives USC instant credibility and will own CA in recruiting
Probably make a playoff appearance or two and get blasted by a SEC team or two
I still think his end goal is the NFL and it will happen at some point, likely within 5 years but that's an eternity these days in the coaching profession
He was top dog at OU in the Big 12 and Texas was the only real contender
In the SEC OU would be in the top tier but a much tougher climb to remain at top

Not the area immediately surrounding USC I would venture.

I too feel bad for OU and it's players.
It's shitty how it went down imo, but in this dog eat dog world of cfb shite like this will continue to happen (as it has in the past).
To your last point-- and I omitted this in my initial post-- Bohn also did say that it would be announced this upcoming Saturday (we have a makeup game with Cal because of COVID). I think the Bedlam loss accelerated the timetable.

Hey everyone. I figured I would let dust settle a bit before I posted from what I know from the USC side (and somewhat OU side).
I went to USC. One of my frat brothers was at a booster golf tournament for USC a couple of weeks ago that our AD Bohn played and spoke at. He texted me right after to tell me what Bohn said about our next HC.
Bohn told the room that our new coach was already in place, that it was a home run hire, and that everyone would be very pleased. That's it.
It's easy to speculate from that, but this deal with LR would seem to point that way. This didn't come together overnight.
There has been a lot of feedback from people over on the USC boards with OU insiders. Both teams folks that are more in the loop are saying LR had been asking for resources (within recruiting-- multi media staff, NLI staff, other ancillary things) that the brass at OU would not sign off on. (USC has a larger recruiting staff than OU which actually surprised me.) He was also not happy that OU made the decision to move to the SEC without his input.
One OU person said players had been asking for meetings with LR since last week, and had gotten no response. They also said people in the Switzer Center said something seemed "off" with LR the past week or so.
OU insiders said they are firmly convinced the LSU part WAS a smokescreen. He was not going to leave a SEC team for a SEC team. How much he played with Woodward and the LSU brass I do not know.
I am not here to flame or troll, but only to give insight where it might be beneficial to those trying to figure this out from the other teams involved.
However, this almost definitely seems like it was sewn up and kept airtight quiet (the only people who had any knowledge of the hire from the SC side was our AD and Asst. AD, as well as the BOT and President). Also remember that SC has been looking for a new coach since mid-September, so the feelers had been out for a while so if LR wasn't happy with OU, SC probably would have known some time ago.
This was a premeditated move that had been orchestrated probably at least two weeks ago, and probably started a long time before that.
(I posted this in another thread, but thought it might go unnoticed by some that it may be relevant to.)
Forget the segment of LSU fans that are idiots, good post and very plausible. I think in 2 years, USC will be a player again for CFP. The PAC12 is USC and everybody else. West of the Rockies, they are the only brand that travels back to the South, Midwest and East, etc.
Riley is going to be able to bring in 32 players this year, so I give him 2 recruiting classes to turn over the roster.

Riley brought his DC with him, so that home run hire might just be a double instead.
Might be a single if Riley can't fix his scheme against 2- High Safeties dropping 7-8 in coverage defenses.

nice
any idea what Riley’s contract looks like?

yeah this has the potential to really gut OU...I'd feel bad but most of their fans are dicks so I find it hilarious.

No idea. It's all speculation. USC does not have to share the HC salaries (or any salaries) because it is a private institution.

I don't know if you realize this, but LSU was using your new coach as a smokescreen just like he was using LSU.
And given who his agent is, and who else the agent represents, it fits pretty nicely.
By the way, your new coach is soft as babyshit. He'll get slaughtered in the playoffs the minute he sees a Big 10 team, much less an SEC team. Assuming he gets there.
But anyway, enjoy!
