In the 26 years prior to Campbell ISU had two winning conference records

Campbell has accomplished that in 5 out of his 7 seasons at ISU.
In Campbell’s five seasons at Toledo, they won 9+ games four times. In the five seasons prior to Campbell and in the five seasons after Campbell, Toledo won 9+ games in two out of those ten seasons.

I remember Auburn hiring an Iowa State head coach too.

I believe Gary Pinkel was a HC there.

That ISU coach won 3 games.. Auburn thought that was worthy of their job opening.
Campbell has won a few more than 3.. what does he deserve?

Only two head coaches with overall winning records in their tenure in the last 100 years at Iowa State, Campbell and the other was mid 70s, Earle Bruce , who was hired to take Woody Hayes spot at Ohio state from Iowa state.

He went 5-19 at ISU. Not remotely comparable.

Chizik was 5-19 at Iowa State and also did kind of win a National championship

To be fair that auburn coach had previous ties to Auburn which made him a familiar face and hire

How about a coach who takes a shite program and consistently turns them into being great? You just let a guy like that walk in Napier that wanted the job. Campbell is a decent coach but he has too many question marks for this job and he sure as hell has too many question when you're throwing big 12 million+ numbers around for coaches. You spend that kind of money this guy should be at the bottom of your list.
LSU needs a homerun hire. Nobody is a guarantee to be great but with a homerun hire you have the best chance. I don't see how Campbell would be a fit for this university culture wise or personality. I'd have serious questions about his recruiting capability here, what he can maintain at the big boy level, and what can he do on the recruiting end? He sure as hell wouldn't excite anyone in our current recruiting class so just let this class fall to pieces? He also probably wouldn't be a win in the near future for recruiting. He'd have to establish a stronger reputation for that and LSU doesn't have the luxury of bypassing a few recruiting classes to establish this dude's rep.
The job description requires someone who can maintain talent and develop it. Recruiting is arguably more important or just as important as developing a team. You could also argue from a money perspective, this does nothing for LSU's brand nationally. Those always play into coaching searches which is why they got personable guys like Miles/Orgeron hired. It gives you ratings.
Campbell has no shot to come here. I don't buy the rumors.

You realize they have both been at shite schools and made them relevant right? Only difference is one of them doesn’t get to play sun belt schools every week.

Problem here is you're appealing to logic, and people that think Campbell isn't any good are thinking emotionally.

Yeah and Napier sustained success with his program that was actually quite impressive when you consider their history. I'd argue Napier was far more impressive than Campbell even with weaker competition. I think he has a much higher ceiling than someone like Campbell too. Florida made a good hire. He may bomb out and he's certainly risky, but damn is his potential high.
LSU shouldn't have to take such a large risk on a coach like Campbell. They should be able to get someone who's a proven winner or can coach at big boy level. Why would you offer Campbell when you haves guys like Kiffin who's winning at the highest level right now with an elite offense or Aranda who has done an impressive second year job at Baylor+you know what he can do since he was here.
I know Campbell has lots of disadvantages there but there's honestly zero sexy about this hire. I don't see it happening. Boosters would kill Woody. If Campbell was as good as this board makes him out to be why has nobody pushed hard for him to make the hire? Napier is already at big boy program while Campbell is stuck at nowhere roads. His team has not looked good this year either.

Yeah, while I’m not a fan of hiring Campbell, I’d much prefer him to Napier. ULL is much more comparable to Toledo imo. Campbell has gone through that rung and up to the next, which is a lesser power in a P5 conference. He’s produces consistent winners and has a fiesta bowl win on his resume. Campbell is a solid coach and it’s time for his shot at a major school. I just think he looks like a bit of a cheese dick
This is also why I think Florida made a big reach in getting Napier. He should have shown he can build a successful program at an Iowa State-type program. Has he had success in the Sun Belt? Yes. Has he done enough to warrant a blue blood offer? I don’t think so, but here we are.

Kiffin and Aranda both had a shitty year one and an impressive year two. Looking at 247 neither are exactly setting the world on fire either. When the search first started I was an Aranda or Kiffin guy also but going down the list, there aren’t any guys without fairly serious question marks to choose from.

Campbell has multiple top #5 wins, a fiesta bowl victory, and a big 12 division title. All at Iowa State.

According to your own qualifications for the LSU job (above), no they did not.

Napier was in the Sun Belt like a few hours ago dude, what are you talking about?

And you honestly think Campbell has more going for them than these 2 hires? You're crazy if you think so. Campbell hasn't proven he can win at any high level like these 2 yet. You could argue Aranda should've did a better job with a Rhule team from year 1 but he has impressively pushed them forward in year 2. He may end up the champion of the conference. You also already know Aranda's genius since he was here so we're more than familiar with what he's capable of doing as a HC. He'll probably sustain success at Baylor.
I'm not a Kiffin fan at all and historically he hasn't been a good HC. He has noticeably grown since his Tenn/USC days though. His last stop he did a good job as HC and now he's in year 2 with shitty Ole Piss turning their QB into a high round pick beating mostly all the SEC teams+an elite offensive mind.
You're honestly going to tell me you'd call Campbell before these 2? And that's just those 2 I'm sure there's plenty more you could throw out there.
Campbell would be a sexier pick if he sustained winning at ISU which he has not done. I know it's difficult but we have plenty of examples of coaches going through bad programs turning them into winners like CUM's history before he won his championships. There's a reason Campbell has not been pursued by big boy programs while Napier is already sitting as HC in Florida. He's a solid coach but LSU material? I'm not really sure about that, sorry.
