IMO. Solid hire if it’s Kragthorpe.

The guy’s got 20 years coaching experience; 7 as HC, 6 as OC, 6 as QBs coach (2 in NFL), 1 as WRs coach. Using process of elimination based on what Les is looking for in a coordinator, this guy fits the bill. Shared offensive philosophy with multiple years of experience as a HC and OC and most importantly can coach QBs; most notable, Matt Hasselbeck. No excuses but the UL gig was f*&ked from the get go and the AD said as much once Krag was let go. And let’s be honest, if anything this guy has proven he’s competent enough to be an OC; especially given the resources and work environment he would walk in to. Les is the captain of this ship and Krag’s expectation will be very clearly defined – No direct admin. booster pressure and PR bull sh*t to deal with. Just work on your piece of the puzzle and do it well – QBs and OC / Les’s Offensive Assistant / Les’s sounding board for bouncing ideas off of. Doesn’t aspire to be a HC anymore and both he and others peg him as more of an assistant who can and will thrive in that roll.

If the hire is Krags and it works out, we could have a very stable coaching staff (HC/DC/OC) for many years to come.
I think Chavis and Krags would likley not be looking to move on. Some of the assistants may want to advance their careers but the main guys would be stable.
Good for the program.

This guy can coach offense. Some guys don't make good head coaches. He helped install that offense that tool Bobby Petrino runs.

Who's to say Krag is even the OC candidate. Maybe he will just be a QB coach with BG bumped up.

Bad Head Coach also doesn't = automatic transition into awesome OC
The guy hasn't been an OC for over a decade and he wasn't a world beater at OC at that time.

I agree. I don't get the Krag hate... wait I do get it. Those who hate the idea of Kragthorpe as our coach just don't get the fact that some guys are meant to be assistants and others are made for head coaching.
Kragthorpe is a damn strong assistant.

Have you examined his OC resume? Is there anything impressive about it?

I think it's more the fact that he was not in the top three or five most desirable options at OC. And I am talking realistic not Cam Cameron or Gruden. And most of the other guys are either rising coaches or have good names for awhile and Krags name lately has been associated with a downward trend. Ofcourse what happens on the field will ultimately determine whether he is liked or not.Just my opinion.

This is what worries me about Krags. Does anyone know when the last time he called plays for an offense?
I don't want an OC trying to get a "feel" for calling plays during the season opener against Oregon.

krags name was one of the first we heard on miles' wish list, so i imagine he was in miles' top 3.

not ever gonna make everyone happy with any hire, but IF Krags is the guy, then I'd say his resume was good enough to justify the decision.

I have and the answer is not really. The job he did at Tulsa was definitely a good one (but he wasn't the OC there). Drew Bledsoe had one of his better years when Krags was coaching, but if I recall, that was the year the Patriots traded him, so the veteran Drew Bledsoe probably wanted to prove himself to the league that year. But you can't say that Bledsoe came up under Krags teaching.
Not a great hire, but can't be much worse than the Wizard.
