I'm sure glad we didn't hire this guy as our OC

He got fired as a head coach
or he bombed as a head coach
or he failed as a manager 3 times
The point is, sometimes good coaches just aren't a good fit in certain spots. But they can be a great hire in other spots.

This guy failed miserably. A lot of NFL teams passed on this guy as head coach.

Pete Carroll was also a failure as an NFL coach before success at USC.

Great point Choupique. Steve is a solid guy who's never had the type of college athletes he's about to be blessed with. I predict he'll mesh well with Les and the other coaches.

Hey, Pete Carroll bombed the first time around in the PROS but once he got to USC with a bigger budget for player salaries he was able to surround himself with the right talent.

Yes, guys fail and then come back with other teams/schools and turn out great.

Bill Belichick was named New England Patriots head coach in 2000, succeeding Pete Carroll. His first year he went 5-11. The rest is history.
Saban with the Dolphins go 9-7 (not bad for first year NFL HC), then goes 6-10.
Pete Carroll in the NFL had winning seasons 2/6 years.
Steve Spurrier with Redskins goes 7-9 and 5-11
Steve Spurrier with S. Car. goes, 7-5, 8-5, 6-6, 7-6, 7-6, 9-5
Mack Brown went 5-10 last year and he recruits the best of the best.
Joe Paterno's worst records include, 3-9 (2003), 4-7 (2004),
Bobby Bowden in his last 4 yrs, 7-6, 7-6, 9-4, 7-6.
Charlie Weis as New England OC goes 5-11, 9-7, 14-2, 14-2,
Charlie Weis as Notre Dame HC goes 9-3, 10-3, 3-9, 7-6, 6-6.
I could go on and on, but look at the coaches above and notice one thing. Every coach has failures. Maybe Krag had a rough go at Louisville, but I think its hard to judge a coach just by the numbers, which is exactly what us fans can only do. Its really hard to judge by wins/losses. Hard to judge by offensive and defensive rankings. I think when the right coach finds the right opportunity at the right time and under the right circumstances success can breed, but unfortunately under the wrong circumstances can breed failure.
Remember this always, Gary Crowton Coordinated the MOST PROLIFIC OFFENSE IN LSU HISTORY, yet most agree that his time here resulted in failure.

It's not like Belichick, Saban, Spurrier, and Carroll failed at a smaller school like Kragthorpe did.
Saban/Belichick/Spurrier/Carroll failing in the NFL is a COMPLETELY different story than a coach failing at a smaller school like L'Ville
