It's unfortunate that people on this board, who presumably follow sports more than the average american, need to be reminded of this truth. Today, one can look to examples of modern day failure and success like Saban and Belichick (when they were with the Browns...I'd only disagree with the OP's comment that Saban bombed as the head coach of the Dolphins, who publicly stated that they wanted him to "finish what he started"), Weis, or Gene Chizik (at Iowa State). Another great example is Buddy Ryan--great defensive coordinator, terrible head coach. Just like everything else in life--some places are better than others for some people. Anyway, I'm not super impressed with Krags. Mainly because his great success came from his stint as a head coach at Tulsa, not an OC...otherwise, his resume isn't that impressive. That said, he may turn out to be a great OC. Only time will tell. But my doubt of Krags abilities has nothing to do with that fact that he bombed at Louisville. Never even crossed my mind.
On another note...check out the FUPA on Charlie Weis.

Are you aware of an NFL team called the Kansas City Chiefs? Are you familiar with their offensive production prior to Weis arriving? He's a great coordinator, and he'll always be known as the guy who developed Tom Brady.

But really? Steve fricking Kragthorpe in the same conversation as Charlie Weis, Joe Torre, Nick Saban, Bill Belichick, and Gus Malzahn?
The point is, sometimes guys aren't the right fit at certain spots. For all I know, Louisiville could have been set up for complete failure when Bobby Petrino left. He probably didn't have any defensive talent. He had a team full of thugs that Kragthorpe had to run off his first year. The offense was still good in year 1, and then the quarterback graduated. Maybe even Petrino would have struggled with a bad defense, and an average QB. Maybe any coach that stepped into that situation would have struggled.
I can honestly say that I don't know the answer to the above. However, I just got sick of hearing all the hate thrown at the Kragthorpe hire just because he failed at Louisville. Howard Snellenberger built a dynasty at Miami, he failed at Louisville. Ron Cooper was fired from Louisville, we love him here at LSU. Why don't we just wait and see?

i agree with your point but god almighty what is the love affair around here with weiss. i was more worried about Florida with urban than i am with weiss.
