My hesitation on Dabo is that he built something great at Clemson because of the void left by the collapse of FSU and the rest of the ACC.
I don't think he can replicate that in the same conference as Bama, Texas, OU, UGA, etc.
I'm not trying to discredit what he did at Clemson. He's still a great coach, but beating 10 average teams and then winning a 4-team playoff is a different animal than dealing with Bama yearly in the regular season.

I like that one a lot and for multiple reasons. Sustained success (ok, 2021 decline but compare “decline” for Clemson since NC to 9-9 LSU since NC).
Saban ejects in next few years. Dabo at Bama is not new thought. Dabo at LSU > Dabo at Bama, for LSU.

Unrelated to your comment, the NIL and Dabo concerns me…I believe he said something along the lines of “the day college players begin getting paid is the day I quit coaching.”

We could certainly do worse than Dabo, but I really don't want him here. I've grown weary of the CEO model. Can we please bring someone in who can actually be the smartest person in the proverbial room?
