If our top targets say no why not sign Coach O to a one year deal

Seems extremely logical. Give him a full season to prove himself and allows us to try again next year if our elite targets aren't coming this year

Seems extremely logical.

no...no it doesn't
you would kill recruiting
why would a recruit commit to a coach with a 1 year deal?

Because it would kill recruiting. I like what O is doing but I kind of wish they would have given Aranda the interim gig to see how he did. He's the key imo.

Would be terrible for recruiting. You either hire someone not named Orgeron or you sign him to a multi year deal.

Lets go full ranter and sign coaches on week to week basis.

If they give him the job, They will give the man along the lines of a 5 year contract.

A one year deal, no, but I wouldn't be opposed to a three year deal with clauses.

yea that is stupid. you don't sign coaches to one year deals

Why sign him for the whole year when we only have games for 3 months? I say just give him a 3 month contract.

Indeed. Aranda is currently the most important person on the LSU staff, imo.

You'd have to make 2 at the minimum. There probably also would need to be some type of incentive clause for a more permanent contract based or results. It eases the recruiting nightmare. Basically he'd just have to say "hey, we win and i stick around for a while, and we're gonna win."
I think that we'd have to get 4 or 5 names deep into the list before this a viable option personally. But it does make sense. Just not a 1 year deal.

Give him a 3 year deal until Aranda is ready.

So what your saying is make Coach O and interim coach for 1 1/2 years? You need this

Why not just make it week to week?
If we're going to be completely irrational and stupid, let's go all the way!

Thats an insane contract for an interim coach.

IF he gets the job, I'd say 3 years is the sweet spot...with No buyout whatsoever. Serves the same purpose as a one year contract with better optics
He needs to realize he is lucky as hell to get this job.

You would kill recruiting, and you would scare off potential long term hires with the lack of stability.
