I agree

I say this as a person who's rooting for him to get the job.

But right now this is a team who's playing some of the highest energy football I've ever seen... and it's really tough to sustain that energy from week to week. It's easy to get the team up for a game like Bama, and he'll have to do that to beat them. It's harder to keep the team up for 6 or 8 games straight, which he'll have to do to finish running the table. If O can do that, it's really something special.

His issue is not proving he can win games. His issue is proving he can sustain success using his own system and philosophies and do it with players he has recruited.

I think he has proven he is at least an average gameday coach in his 2 interim seasons. It's the latter that will be question that keeps him from getting the job imo.

id at least need to get past Arkansas. theres only 70 days between texas am and signing day. if we're 5-0 at that point, we should act on it.

if we're 3-2, i guess we just have to sacrifice this class.

Is O the most qualified candidate? In case someone doesn't know the answer it's NO! I'll get on board with the most qualified candidate. He tops the B list at best. Why so many want to settle for a below average coach is beyond me.

Win or lose, I'm going to pay close attention to the game plan and any adjustments made. If he shows me he can identify weaknesses and adjust to their counterpunches then I'm on board 100%. Despite the party line here, Orgeron's biggest deficiency isn't running a program, it's taking the step necessary to game plan for good opponents. If he can show me he's fixed that then I'll feel like we're in good hands.

I won't support him if he beats Bama nor will I support him if he does get the job. It would take a lot to convert me.

It's not "settling."

If he runs the table he's earned the job.

Look at the interim coaching period as his job interview. If we ask him to get us to the playoffs/run the table... that's pretty much the hardest possible job interview any college football coach has ever had. If he does it, he's more than proven himself worthy of the job.

If he doesn't do it, sure, hire a "better" candidate. I'm all for that.

In case you haven't noticed, there's not a long list of coaches who has beaten Saban at Bama. If O does that it will certainly make him at least an above average coach. You're also delusional if you think there's a long list of qualified candidates in this year's coaching pool. If beating Bama isn't good enough for you then there's only one name who even comes close and with every passing day he looks more like he isn't interested. Dipshits like you would have us hire Larry Fedora and be literal dog shite for three years.

same here, but I would say that if somehow manages to go undefeated and make the playoffs that he would be at or near the top of the list of prime candidates. He surely would have proven that he can game day coach and manage a program as well as maintain a fully functioning program that doesn't need to be rebuilt. It would show his philosophys and other things that people question about him aren't an issue and work perfectly in sync with the LSU football program. It would show he out coached
Saban with lessor talent and did it in a very short amount of time. Imagine what he could do with a whole offseason, spring, and fall camp to work on his team.

Because the primary reason I don't want coach O is because he was the head coach of our historical rival (and an utter disaster at that), you take it to mean I'm rooting for Bama. I've never rooted against LSU and never will. I didn't support Miles since the Florida game in 2009, but I still wanted LSU to win every game. It will be the same for O if he turns out to be the choice.

I certainly won't throw a hissy fit. I didn't throw one when I thought Miles was out of his element and I won't throw one when O proves to be out of his.

I think O would be a terrible hire, and I've laid out very solid reasons (many of which you've been reticent to rebut) why I believe that to be the case. I even reread Meat Market the other day just to make sure I wasn't making things up.

How do you know unless he is the coach for at least 3 years. Has Herman done this?

And dipshits like you would probably be happy with that outcome.

Fedora is on the B list. Read the post a-hole, O is at the top of the B list.
