“If” it’s Lane, how are we feeling about recruiting? Specifically high school

His teams have really thrived during the transfer portal era but he was never know as an ace recruiter. I have a lot of family that are OM fans and they say he’s not a huge talker when it comes to boosters and recruits.

From the sounds of it Kelly barely talked to recruits so he has to be better than that. If he keeps Raymond and Frank that alone should keep him in top 10 recruiting classes every year.

I think he will maintain top ten classes.

The portal will become more utilized than it already is, but he's spoken many times about the advantages of having built in state talent.

Assuming we keep Frank on board, I feel like we'll be fine if not better.

If he knows he's signing the extension, he can sign it today. The only reason to let it drag on is if you are walking.

As long as he's able to recruit top ten freshman classes and get elite transfers on a consistent basis, I'd feel good about recruiting with him.

This is Lane at Quinshon Judkins last HS game. Think we’d show a much improved face at the Hs level.

Well he probably wont be doing any of those cringe arse dance videos with the recruits like BK, so that's a plus

So, what changed in the extension that has been sitting on his desk for weeks?

He's a bit socially awkward and doesn't like doing a lot of dirty work in recruiting - like he won't do the cupid shuffle with grandma or talk bow season with uncle billy.

He'll do fine HS recruiting at LSU because it's easier to recruit there than Ole Miss, that being said he likes portal players more - they are older, more mature, and don't require the dog and pony show.

Money talks, maybe why he wants the big NIL deal, so he can buy his talent.

If it is lane, he will shut this fricking state down. He has always been drooling over Louisiana athletes. That came out wrong

Corey Raymond and Frank will likely be retained no matter who the Head Coach is and therefore the recruiting will be fine in the State of Louisiana. With Austin Thomas the transfer portal will be just fine as well.

That's one thing - it is probably easier to get top tier HS skill position athelets (money notwithstanding) to LSU or Florida than it is to Ole Miss. Now, Ole Miss kids are hard to pull out of state, that's true, but they compete in-state with Miss State.

I'm citing it only as a pull factor for Lane to leave (which looks to me he almost certainly is).

Objectively, if it was me, and I was neither a grad of LSU nor Florida (and had no strong family ties either way), and I was the HC at Ole Miss and I had comparable offers to coach at LSU or Florida, right now, I would probably take the Florida job for a range of factors. If my only priority was winning a NC, that might push me to Baton Rouge.
