If I was State I'd close Schiano tomorrow.

Some think that he won't get another shot a decent HC job because of the Clay Travis saga. I think he's a hell of a coach. State should get him and house Tennessee the next time they play

I think MSU may have already locked up Pruitt.

Which is dumb. He's been extensively vetted numerous times (by college and pro organizations). Some dickhole tweets something out and some students rant on a rock and the dudes coaching life is over. Screw that... State would come out looking like a million bucks. Redemption in just 24 hours for a innocent man AND get to hire a great coach.

What in his head coaching past makes you think he’s one hell of a coach?

Rutgers was a dumpster fire prior to him arriving. Urban Myers, Bill Belichick, and numerous other well respected coaches speak highly of his ability to coach.

He was 20 games under 500 in conference play at Rutgers

His defense also allowed Iowa to hang a 50 burger on them

If he’s so great why has no one else tried to hire him before?

Tell me 3 or 4 coaches who you think is a hell of a coach and I'll cherry pick things here or there to the contrary

How is pointing out the guy was 20 games under 500 in conference play in his only stint as a college coach “cherry picking”?

The guy was a disaster at Tampa Bay, the players hated him, the media hated him. Plus the team sucked. That's not even mentioning the shite at Penn State. I wouldn't hire anyone that worked under Paterno during the time that Sandusky was there. They all knew. I wouldn't hire him to clean my pool.

I'm amazed at how debatable it apparently it is regarding whether or not Schiano can coach. people act like rutgers has ever had a semblance of history before and after Schiano

Dude doesn't have to be burned at the cross over a weak link to the Sandusky situation when he was in his early 20s.

Mississippi State could get a decent coach and a great pickup for their level of program. They just need to get a jump on making sure Schiano's past is really clear, then announce they've done a thorough investigation into his background and there is no evidence of any behavior that would demonstrate that Schiano is not a man of Mississippi State's level of expectations.

Schiano was 68-67 (.504) at Rutgers. Rutgers is 641–622 (.507) all-time.

Lol Rutgers is the same program with and without him. Sorry.

Same could be said for Saban at Miami.

Rutgers had not even GONE TO A BOWL since 1978 when Schiano arrived, and they had never even won a bowl game before his arrival. that makes Mississippi State's football history blush

Eh. He did OK. Great year when he had a special player. But his success at Rutgers is over exaggerated

This explains how LSU ended up with YawYaw if you think Schiano is a "hell of a coach" The guy is still riding one good year at Rutgers. He isn't even a good DC at Ohio St

If you want to hire a former Big East coach, at least get a good one like Rich Rodriguez who is winning at historical doormat Arizona

Disagreed.

Schiano doesn't look bad. Tennessee and their fans do.
