If I have this right, Kelly has coached a team to an undefeated season...

...three different times.
Four other times he's coached a team to a one-loss season.
Three other times he's coached a team to a two-loss season.
He's had 13 ten-win seasons, including each one of the last five.
He's been a head coach for 31 years, and only twice did he have a losing record - that horrible 4-8 year in 2016 when his quarterback play collapsed on him, and the first year when he was at Central Michigan and went 4-7.
This guy is about the most consistent winner you can get outside of Nick Saban. He might be the most similar coach to Saban that's on the market in terms of how he approaches the game.
Classic Woodward hire.
What I'm really curious to know is how we got him and what it was that flipped his switch to LSU.

Because he’s an insanely driven professional with the will to compete against and beat the best.

The guys last 5 yearsare all double digit wins.
Great hire.
If he really did get 15mil that's crazy. I love the hire but 15 would be crazy.
My guess is 8-10

Yeah, I get that - but what was Woody's pitch to him that stroked him in all the right places?
What was his pressure point at Notre Dame that moved him off his position that he'd never leave there?
There's always that point where the sale gets made. I just want to know what it was for Kelly.

Everyone wants to be appreciated. With Kelly and ND it was just time to part ways. They think they should be winning championships. We know that in 2021 this is as good as ND is going to get.

But Billy Napier buys his boudin from Best Stop!!

I think it’s simple. Kelly knows he won’t be coaching forever and wants to win a national championship. He’s smart enough to know that’s not happening at Norte Dame. But it can at LSU. This is his shot to cement his legacy. I like the move for both sides.

lol i know right. plus its cold af half the year.

It’s hard to build a top rate indoor practice facility when you’re spending private money…much easier when it’s funded by a public university.

they have nice athletic facilities but everything is shared
surprised with their boosters and big money just expected more for football activities
kelly is going to love the football ops center and the ponderosa

In his interview with Tom Ronaldi from September regarding his legacy at Norte Dame, it was clear the lack of a championship weighed heavily on him. He’s coming to LSU to win championships.

And despite that incredible resume, LSU fans are still pissed off that he’s the guy. Classic LSU fan.
He’s as proven as any coach besides Saban yet our fans would rather guys from other schools who have never had sustained success.
And to be fair, I was all in for Aranda or Fickell but those guys haven’t proven to be consistent winners and a major program like Kelly.
I understand that past success doesn’t guarantee future success, but only complete idiots don’t think this is a grand slam of a hire.
