If Kiffin comes here and Sark follows as offensive consultant when they tell Saban.

Haha the chances of this happening I'm not sure of, but I bet Saban would lose his mind.

Why do people think this? Seriously? He was rediculed for hiring both. Now he's going to lose his mind for losing them?

I don't know. Saban is unpredictable, but he does seem to put on a level-headed front when it comes to personnel changes.

Saban is as sane as he has ever been.

It is the rest of college football that is losing its mind trying to beat him.

I don't think Saban is gonna feel threatened by then leaving. I just think after the lobbying he did for Kiffin to get a head coaching job, there was a reason he didn't want him at an opposing divisional team. Saban will be fine just not what he wanted to happen, dudes a control freak

I agree. I think it is two reasons:

1) He thinks it helps him attract top notch assistants and coordinators if part of the selling point is that your next job when you leave here will be a higher role for more money.
2) I think he understands that Kiffin is a good coach (he hired him, after all) and he doesn't want to have a good coach go to a team within his division if he can help it. He can't do anything about it if O hires Helfrich or Canada, but, if he chooses, he could attempt to stop O from hiring Kiffin by offering Lane a very good deal to stay. Again, if he and Lane choose that route.

With so many failures I think the shine of being part of the "Saban tree" is losing its luster with administrators.

So many failures? Dantonio was in the playoffs last year. McElwain has won back to back East division titles with basically backup QBs the whole time. Fisher has a national championship. Kirby is a first year coach. It's really just Muschamp, and he had a really solid year at USCe.

Am I missing someone obvious (don't you dare say Dooley, bc you can't put one guy up as the example against 5)

If Saban loses Kiffin and/or Sark, he'll just hire someone like Helfrich, get ridiculed for it, but continue to wreck shite.

People never seem to learn. That motherfricker knows what he's doing. HELLLLOOOOOOOO!

I don't think he would lose a moment's sleep over it as far as competition goes, but I can't imagine him not being pissed off if it happened. You don't find many more prideful Type-As than Saban. That's what makes him who he is. Having two guys make lateral moves within the same division would get a lot of the kind of press he wouldn't like. He would never come off as upset about it in public, but I could imagine some choice words would be said behind closed doors.

All that said, the chances of both these guys landing at LSU next year are very slim.

i agree here.. Kiffin came very close to beating Saban while he was at Tennessee I think Saban knows Kiffin is smart enough to have some success against him.. I think that was one of the reasons Saban hired him.. im sure Saban learned a few of his tendencies while he was there. Pretty ingenious move.. get a great play caller to help your team and also learn what he does and devise a plan to stop it when he leaves..

Saban has won 5 titles and is very likely to win his 6th.

You could take every single coach from his current staff and move them some place else and they would likely be in the playoffs again next year. While coordinators are important, Saban has a program that will function regardless of who his assistants are.

Why do y'all think Saban would "lose his mind"? He's been kicking our arse for six years in a row. You think two coaches will make a difference to him? You don't think he can make another great OC hire?

I truly don't understand the obsession with wanting kiffin or sark because it would "stick it to Bama". I don't know if that's why you want him to be hired or if you want him at LSU at all. I have just seen that rhetoric on the CCB lately.

Honestly, I'm not that confident Kiffin or Sark could out-scheme Saban. I would prefer someone outside the "Bama Circle".
