Yet Saban had so much confidence in both of them that he hired them to out-scheme every team in America except his own.

Yeah. I mean just because you're a good OC and someone hires you doesn't prove you can beat them. Kiffin BARELY beat Aranda, and i wouldn't even call it "beating". Lucked out is more like it.

Also, I'm not sure i would say kiffin and sark "out-schemed" every team in America. Saban/Pruitt defense plays a large part in helping those guys out.

Not that they suck. I am just not sold either of them would be able to beat Saban after working under him for so long.

The point was that Saban believed them to be the best in the business, hence why he hired them.

They're good enough to be hired by the biggest CFB dynasty in your lifetime, but not good enough for LSU.

Lucked out is a huge stretch. Often times in the LSU-Bama game the play is TIGHT. Saban has enough years of experience to know that an LSU offense won't score on him much. Therefore he knows he can play conservative, field position football.

What did Kiffin do in all of Bama's games not at LSU vs. Aranda?

Again, the point is that the best coach in America at the biggest football powerhouse in decades trusted Kiffin with the keys to the Ferrari. But Ed Orgeron can't do that?

I would argue that Kiffin would have a slightly better chance of beating Saban b/c he worked under him for so long. Saban would know Lane's tendencies, which he could alter slightly.

The reality is that there isn't an OC in the land that you can say will beat Saban with much confidence.

You're the biggest Canada fanboy on this site. The majority of the defenses he is shredding are garbage and Pitt's D is so bad they're in shootouts every game.

Do you think that Nick would be more concerned about facing a Kiffin led offense, knowing that Kiffin was inside the program going up against his D daily or a Matt Canada directed offense that he could watch a season's worth of film on and likely limit severely?

There is a reason Nick is suddenly endorsing Kiffin for HC positions and trying to land him anywhere but Baton Rouge.

Best available at the time would be more accurate.

Didn't say that either of their coaching ability was sub par or that LSU shouldn't hire them because they are bad OCs. Kiffin makes me nervous because he has a tendency to get in trouble especially when him and O coached together. I think either would be good hires (from a coaching perspective). I just don't think Saban would lose his mind over them leaving, which is what my original comment was all about.

Well we had no offense and a missed holding call. I would say that's pretty fortunate. Of course the no offense is a credit to the Bama D, in part.

Well i made my original statement because Aranda is one of the best DCs in the country. Seeing how his offense struggled against Aranda, i wonder how much success he would have against saban.

No argument there.

Im not sure i am the biggest fanboy. I like him, but i dont think he is the only solution. So you don't want Gilbert or Briles either? They typically play garbage defenses so they're not that good either? Pitt plays in the ACC. It's not like we're talking about the AAC or something. I don't even know why Canada is relevant to this conversation, though.

Again, not sure why Canada is even being discussed, but you could say that about any coach not Lane Kiffin or Sark. Not really certain anything is gonna cause Saban concern, tbh. I would say the inside knowledge is a two way street. I don't think that gives Kiffin a significant edge over any other coordinator. Saban prepped against Kiffin's O every day in practice too.

Lulz if you actually believe that Saban is so scared of kiffin or sark he would falsely sell them to other schools to prevent them to coming to LSU. That's just a Rant rumor that holds no water. There's no proof to even make that claim.

Why do people think this? Seriously? He was rediculed for hiring both. Now he's going to lose his mind for losing them?

And in Kiffins case it paid off and I'd say if Sark stays it will pay off as well and if not he will just go out and find the next great OC and keep on winning. He's a winner and can adapt and I know the LSU hate but I'm always a fan. Dude just wins and that's all that matters.
