Sumrall is likely the guy. And I'm fine with it.

Well there's people talking about how a search committee will be used that has yet to be formed. So any hot board or list certainly hasn't been formed either. Everything feels like speculation at this point but the Tulane coach will be a possibility I'm sure.

Unless AU joins the crowd, then Sumrall is very, very much in play for AU if AU wants him. Which they will.

Heard the guy speak and take questions in a small group. Not a Tulane function, and he was as candid as he could be. Everyone on this board would like the shite out of this guy. You could immediately see how he'd appeal to kids. He's got the intensity you look for, but it's easy to see how he'd use it to break a kid down to build him up a-la Saban (lost art in coaching). He's from the South and gets football down here. People compare him to Napier, but he comes off as way more dynamic. IMO he'd kill it at LSU

Also, the "can't hire a guy from Tulane" talk is shortsighted and dumb.

South Carolina hires Brent Key

This makes no sense. If he leaves GT it would be for a job like LSU or Florida. Why go to a bottom tier SEC school when you can be a perennial winner in an easy ACC school.

Penn State hires Mike Elko

This makes zero sense as well.

LSU hires Eli Drinkwitz

LSU can do better.

What if tulane goes to the playoffs? We're going to wait for him then?

All these top name coaches are gonna be playing late into the season

Would be a great hire and should be at or near the top of the list

In the past I would be worried on the recruiting cycle but with NIL, you wait if you have to! Can’t worry about high school recruits!

Kiffin’s buyout is also only 3 million dollars. Easy pitch. He used Ole Miss as a stepping stone and they got hot and reached their ceiling. He knows that you don’t turn an LSU down twice.

Nope

Hearing Sumral is NOT the guy and except for conversations that have or will happen with his agent, there’s a low chance that he will be the guy

Look for Auburn to be his next stop

The post is about him being the guy once the chips fall. Not who is on top the list.
