I think Aranda is the floor.

I personally think Dave has no ego, isn’t caught up and offended at not being “first choice,” and wants to be the HC at LSU.
I personally think he knows he’s in line behind Lincoln Riley and Dave may have even said yes to an “in case” offer assuming Woodward does not reel in Riley. I think Dave and Woodward have been in contact and Aranda knows his offer is pending Riley falling through.
Now of course, Dave won’t wait forever and USC is another attractive suitor. But I’m not worried because I believe Woodward is a strategic thinker who knows when to quit on Riley.
So call me blindly optimistic, but I believe Scott is free to pursue/wait on Riley, at least through the end of the regular season. Dave is a guaranteed backup for the next two weeks. Admittedly it gets dicey after that.
Aranda is the floor.

except, it's not. slowly coming around to the reality of the state of the program. Thanks to the shrimp boat captain 'losing himself' we're struggling to to become bowl eligible and facing BoB as the likely coach.. dark days are here again.

Uh no, not sure how you came to that conclusion reading my OP. I think Riley is Woodward’s 1A and Aranda is Woodward’s 1B.

Damn man. Chill. There is nothing official saying anyone is out. There is definitely nothing official that Woodward would hire fricking Bill O'Brien.

I think GTN was around for Orgeron hire. Tenth showed up after we fired Canada and eventually made Ensminger OC.

Orgeron contacted Lane Kiffin with the approval of Alleva and offered him the same contract as Dave Aranda and was turned down, but not without Kiffin basically planting the briles idea into his head.
Briles would be the last attempt at an OC.
Ensminger accepted the position after being told that they were turned down by the other prospects (the prospects being Lane and Briles).
This process took quite awhile because Ensminger was on the fence about the position.
There is no "Its taking forever, its not Ensminger". Not even Ensminger wanted the OC to be Ensminger. He was in a sense taken advantage of.
The divide in this administration is catastrophically bad. It was awful during the Miles break up , but we have reached an entirely new level. Multiple rag tag loose cannons have been let go for false information leaks. Some of which are backed by the side that does not want Ensminger.
It is much too late for that. Ensminger will lead the offense , and Orgeron will have a hand in the running game. The passing game will not be handled by Orgeron.
Dave Aranda has a few intersting marks in his contract. He cannot entertain an SEC school until 2020. Period. He was given a HCIW tag as well (meaning he will be the first person evaluated and interviewed in the event Orgeron leaves). Orgeron is well aware and expects him to stay on staff.
Most of us up here dont expect Coach Orgeron to make it to 2019. Not with how the boosters are reacting. Much like you all. Defeated and depressed.
Well. Thats it for my first post. The layout for TigerDroppings is much better than any other board ive been on. I will probably stick around with you guys.

As I said in the OP, I think Scott knows when to break off pursuit of Riley and reel in Aranda.
I repeat: it won’t last forever, but I believe Dave has given Scott a “grace period” through the end of the regular season before he pursues USC.
Again, I believe Dave knows he’s second choice, but he’s not some egomaniac, and is willing to wait for a little bit more time for the chance to coach LSU.
I would not bet my life savings, but I’d bet a couple hundred that LSU’s next football coach is named either Lincoln Riley or Dave Aranda.
