I just don’t get the hype around Riley.

I’m sure I’ll get called dumb etc, but honestly looking for good conversation. I just don’t get giving Riley 10-12 million a year.

The guy should be dominating the B12, but every year OU manages to lose to an 8-5 team.

Not saying the expectation is to win every game, but OU hasn’t won a playoff game with him and somehow he’s going to be just as good or better than saban and Kirby?

I think the guy is a 9-10 win coach in the sec. If you’re paying a guy 3 million I get that. But for 12 million he better be better than saban and no one is.

Saban never went undefeated at LSU. Now he dominates the SEC. Sometimes coaches just need a change to get the most out of them. He would dominate with our Instate Talent. Look at all the WR's we have had in the NFL and before 2019 we were known as the ground n pound team.

38 years old. 54-9 record as a head coach. One of the best offensive minds in the game. 3 CFP appearances. 2 Heisman winners. I don’t get your confusion.

I agree with you and to add to that one of LSU's biggest deficiencies has been QB play outside of burrow. If we had a HC like Riley that would never be an issue.

Get him paired up with a good DC and he could dominate.

10-12 million bucks for a guy that’s never won a title or is ever going to beat saban or Kirby consistently.

So we should only be offering $3 million to anyone who isn’t better than Saban… And that’s your plan to beat Saban?

At least you somewhat self aware

And you know this to be true how exactly?

Coach O and CLM both won titles here and neither of them were experts on either side of the ball. You insert a coach like Riley and LSU would be competing with Bama and UGA every year.

Exactly what coach is going to do this?

He’s 38. Saban was 48 when he took over at LSU and he’s gotten even better at Alabama. Just like players, coaches get better with more experience. I’d be willing to bet he has the best win percentage for a coach in his 30’s all time. It took Dabo 8 years to win his first natty. Riley has only been a HC for 5 years. Saying things like he’ll never be as good as Saban or Kirby is an unprovable statement.

He's 38 years old. He has an insane record and he can only get better.

I typically want a defensive minded coach but if he's interested, do whatever it takes to get him.

He's produced two Heisman trophy winning QBs in consecutive seasons.

My only concern is that I want him to nail a proven DC if he comes here.

I want him.

We have 12 million bucks to give away. Is there someone more qualified and available to give it to?

Riley and a stellar defensive coordinator will absolutely dominate at LSU. Like Saban, he is a recruiting machine. He's an offense guru, quarterback whisperer, motivator, etc. He's simply been at the wrong university. Those guys can't compete with the SEC. Riley needs SEC talent and an incredible DC, that's it! He has all the skills to build the dynasty we want and deserve at LSU.

First, it’s not your money so why do you care if LSU pays someone 7 million or 12 million? It won’t cost you a dime. Second, Orgeron was 2-0 vs Kirby so I’m pretty sure a competent coach at LSU could beat Kirby consistently.

There's no way for you to know this for sure.

But I'll bite.... who would you hire, for the same price, that would do that consistently?

Not trying to be a jerk. I'm just asking, who do you want?

Exactly what has kept him from having a good defensive coordinator at Oklahoma? If he hasn't figured out how to hire one there, what makes people think he would have a good one here? Sorta like saying "If Miles just had a good offensive coordinator."
