I don't know if I can justify kicking Daronte Jones to the curb

Given the attrition he had to work with in his 1st season as a DC, when you look at what he was able to do with this defense, he single-handedly kept us in games we shouldn't have been in.

Plus it's important to keep some stability wherever you can during a HC change. The players are obviously comfortable with him and have bought in to his style. I'd give him a shot, I think he deserves it.

He should get an interview, but if we can get Marcus Freeman or Mike Elko, this isn’t even a conversation.

How about this to justify it:

THEY. DIDNT. CHANGE. ANYTHING. UNTIL. LANE. CALLED. AND. TOLD. ORGERON.

Y'all just hired an A+ head coach. Brian Kelly should make the call. If he wants to clean house, let him clean house.

I get keeping 1-2 guys for continuity and recruiting, but what's the point of getting a new HC if you're going to keep most of the old staff?

The staff was a lot of the issue with the stale culture at LSU. Daronte did well the last few games and he'll get a good job somewhere and hopefully work his way up.

I think he has certainly done a fine job this year and especially the back half of the season with so many injuries. The defense was not the problem.
If Freeman does come, I don't think he will be here all that long. Daronte will be here for a good while I believe.

Great mindset to have to keep going 6-6 or below.

He did great after we gave up all those points and touchdowns and yards.

I think he has a future somewhere, but not here

Good thing you won’t have to justify anything. Brian Kelly, head football coach of the LSU Tigers, will make that determination.

Defense gave up 18.5 PPG in November.

Aka after Kiffin told O why the defense sucked.

We did play Alabama, Arkansas and A&M in that month. Really not bad

6-6

The goal ya know is to win. Certainly more than ya lose.

Hmmm about this we let the guy we’re paying nearly 10mil a year make that call instead of saddling him with a guy the failed previous coach hired? Sound good?

Unless there's an elite DC out there to be had I keep Daronte. His final 4 games he kept Bama, Ark, ULM and A&M to under 300yds and 20 pts per game. That's an impressive feat with starting guys like Evans at CB and Fonua at DE. Even Cam Lewis was making big plays that I haven't seen in a long time.

Agree 100%, especially from a staff that just went .500

I think Jones did fine with what he had to work with but damn, it's ok to want new blood infused in the program.

I doubt Daronte was keen to keep trotting out a base defense. That’s on O. Remember Peetz didn’t get to mix up the run game till UK because O wanted the “Joe Brady offense”

There is a clear demarcation point where he got to be more aggressive and do something different than what O was making him do early in the season and the defense absolutely flipped a switch
